Dear Governor Ambode,
I am so disappointed in the way the Lagos Marathon was undertaken. I understand that the idea of the marathon was to boost and attract positive attention for our city. But I must say the way the prizes were organized is grossly shameful. For the life of me, I cannot fathom a logical reason other than an intense Xenophilia, that the prize money was broken down into two separate groups. A winning foreigner would be awarded $50,000 while a Nigerian winner, of a race in IN NIGERIA, would win N=1,000,000 which is equal to $5,000 or much less on the black market.
Are we, as a country so self-loathing that we think if a foreigner completed the same taks as a local, that the local is ONLY be entitled to 10% of the foreigner’s earnings merely because of the foreigner'...

To,
President Elect Barack Obama,
White House,
Washington DC,
United States of America
Namaste Obama Jee,
A hearty congratulations on being re-elected as the President of United States. I do feel America and the rest of the world will be much better off with you at the helm of affairs. But unlike other Indian citizens I didn’t actually follow the Presidential race closely but was updated all the time, thanks to interpret Tweets from my Tibetan-American friends.
I am from India, a country touted as the next global leader. I seriously doubt it though but not because I don’t believe in my people but mostly that I don’t believe in the politicians running this country. As you gear up to take your seat in the White House I have these following suggestions which I think if accepted...

I am writing this letter to try and come to my own conclusion on what is happening around me in my own country. I am confused, frustrated and upright up scared on what my proud country is coming to.
I am a white South African with no future at all. I was born and raised here but yet I do not feel part of this country anymore. With the racism slurs hat keeps on being tossed around it is hard to see what is really the truth. I want to believe that this is the best county in the world, that it is my country and that everything will be fine and work out at the end of the day. But every time I turn on the news I hear the same thing, corruption, death, racism... When will we as a country move forward and stop picking in the past?
How can we come together as a nation to build up this...

Dear Huffington Post,
Inspired by the popular Christmas story "Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus" I would like to ask a question that I think only you may be able to answer. Because, just as in the story I believe that when the Huffington post says it, it is so. Well, not exactly but let's for a moment assume that it is so.
Every day I read, watch and hear the news. CNN, Fox, Washington Post only a few of the many, many news outlets there are. And every single day I am confused, I am torn, I am exhausted. Why? Because when once I believed that being a journalist was a profession with honor, integrity and trustworthiness, today I am not so sure about that any more.
Why do I feel like every day I am being fed only what a certain media wants me to hear and feel stirred into a...

Dear _______________,
There is a serious health crisis that needs to be addressed right away.
You can help me and so many others live some sort of a normal life if you learn the truth that has been hidden from you about drugs in America.
I am a single, disabled woman at home devoting my time to making sure I can get the proper health care I need now and in the future. I work from my bed, lying down, every day. Two things you should know.
Opioids are not bad.
Chronic pain patients are not addicts.
THERE ARE 100,000,000 (Yes 100 million) PEOPLE IN THE U.S. LIVING WITH CHRONIC, DISABLING PAIN
I work independently as a writer, advocate and researcher, without pay, on the subject of the fair treatment and management of chronic pain. With me are thousands of others —...

The Groceries Code Adjudicator uncovered Tesco’s failure to pay its suppliers properly, exposing how the supermarket has been able to abuse its market position. In the light of these findings, we welcome Tesco’s contrition and public commitment to change further the way it works with its supply base.
This case demonstrates the value of the adjudicator, which now also has the ability to fine supermarkets that step out of line. This will incentivise better purchasing practices, with the benefits being felt by producers that sell directly to big retailers. The next step is to extend the GCA’s remit to cover the whole supply chain and protect indirect suppliers, including many farmers in Britain and abroad.

Dear Committee Members:
As a group of practitioners and researchers closely involved with child rights and child protection programming, we have a particular interest in children’s work. We have recently learned that a General Comment on the Rights of Adolescents is being prepared and this may affect the rights of working children in relation to Article 32 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. We see this as an opportunity to improve the protection of children and adolescents who do work. In particular we strongly urge the Committee to avoid binding its recommendation on Adolescents to the Minimum Age Standards set out in ILO Convention 138 and instead reference ILO Convention 182 and the importance of protecting working children from exploitation and harm. Reference to ILO 182...

Dear Scott Morrison,
You’ve probably guessed that this is not fan mail. I’m sure you do have fans, but I don’t think there would be many game enough to admit it after your recent behaviour. Trolls perhaps, but not people. Why not people, you may ask? Succinctly, because no person with a shred of humanity, the sort of humanity needed to qualify as a human, could ever condone what you are doing to the world’s desperate asylum seekers who come to Australia begging for help.
Before you ready your list of excuses as to why it’s justifiable for someone to be murdered inside an Australian detention facility, there is no justifiable excuse you could possibly provide that will go anywhere near being a justifiable excuse. According to witness reports, a man has died after having his throat...

Dear Mr Fallon, A Landlords Open Letter to The Rt Honorable Michael Fallon MP
Thank you so much for your time at your Swanley surgery on Saturday.
Following our meeting I would like to take the opportunity to summarise some of the key areas of disagreement between us on the effects of Clause 24 of the Finance Act (2) 2015.
Firstly I would like to start by saying that David and I believe that there are still key effects of this policy, which along with many other people, you appear to have not fully understood.
From the start the Treasury has sought to present these changes as “creating a fairer taxation system“, when the reality of the impact of this policy could not be further from the truth. The policy has been presented as reducing tax relief for the wealthiest landlords...
