I write to you today with a heart full of grief overshadowed by burdensome pain. I am awestruck by the hate filled trouble and destruction that's taking place around the world. In my observation it appears as though the ozone layer has kidnapped a cloud of significantly destructive negative energy holding it captive with no chance of cooperation when it comes to releasing it. First, the Bible speaks of these things so they're supposed to happen with no avoidance. But America, you didn't have to take it as far as you have--you've chosen to evict God from almost all of your business. The Pandora's box of chaos that includes, amongst other things, anger, bitterness, and hatred that's dividing America is visually evident in the area of law enforcement; the very ones responsible for...

I see you. I recognize your struggle, I am all too familiar with your pain and confusion. As humans, and especially as women, there are so many standards we are supposed to live up to, a criteria we're supposed to meet. Every year around my birthday I do some self reflecting and I want to let you in on some of the things I have discovered. The moral of it all being; you will never, ever, in one million lifetimes, please everyone. And that's okay. It's really okay. Here's some things I've learned in my twenties: People are going to judge you for anything they can possibly judge, love yourself anyway. You are incredibly capable of being a professional with pink hair, a septum piercing and tattoos. Your appearance has no affect on the work you can do, or the kind soul that's in...

I've spent the past decade and a half of my existence in a small area where there is more prevelency for agriculture than other people. So please forgive the case if it may be that of ill-conceived backwoods manners. My general involvement in the world around myself is that I exist in the space I currently occupy and nothing more, I do not change the planet's rotation by walking down the street. I do not save lives by taking my dogs for a walk. And yet, I am a human and I have a mind and heart that think and feel, just as you do. I personally believe that part of our issue as a species is we forget that all we are 100% proven to have is each other, 7.5 billion brothers and sisters. With those numbers, no human should be lonely or rejetted by their own kin right? Yet we spend all of our...

Unanimous Employee Deli Department United States 6 June 2017 Mr. Ryan Deli employee at Deli Department United States Dear Mr. Ryan: I know there are times when working at the deli, work gets very slow. There are few customers at the deli counter needing help. Food has already been cooked and is fresh again. It is put into the hot case and most of the packaging is done for the day. I have noticed many times when you walk to the back room, and the instant that you pass through the hallway, you immediately pull out your phone. The deli manager has already gone home and there is only two other people left working at the deli. Do you ever feel any fear of losing your job someday? It is clearly stated in the store agreement that we cannot use our phones at work, only at...

You are the description of perfectionist. You held yourself to a high standard, wanted all the assignments you turned in spotless, and you would flip out if you had a 49/50 on a test. I don’t blame you, it is good to hold yourself accountable and always try your best. But you are a perfectionist that is perfect at everything except for one thing: using the term OCD to describe yourself. This interaction occurred in Spanish class. To jog your memory, it was the day of the post it note project. We were placing post it notes on a window in the school hallway to make a figure relating to Spanish. Our group was trying to remake Dora. Your task was cutting the post it notes and my task was placing them on the window. I placed down one post it note. To me it looked fine, but for you it was not...

I know that this time in your life seems shaky and perhaps unstable at times. Welcome to your mid 20’s. I also know that there is this constant unwavering reminder to feel like you must have your life “together” (whatever that even means). I don’t care weather you admit it or not- almost EVERYONE that graduates uni has this small period where they feel they need to “establish themselves” and let the world know what they’ve done with that VERY expensive degree. Well let me tell you, it is completely normal to compare yourself with people you’ve graduated university with and to feel the need to measure up to them. That is okay, but also realize your journey is definitely not the same as everyone elses so don’t be so hard on yourself if you’re not exactly where you want to be. I have...

You need to chill. Seriously. Chill. You are the most aggressive person in our neighborhood and everyone knows it. If we can hear you when you’re yelling at your son and husband, and you live two houses apart from us, imagine how loud you get when you’re right below our balcony screaming at my dog! First off I would like to apologize that my dog barks. He’s a dog, and if you’ve never met a dog, that’s what they tend to do when someone mean and aggressive starts yelling at them. And it would make sense that when your dog is being yelled at, the owner would come out of their house completely confused and defensive. My mom just wanted to know what was going on, you could’ve told her that our dog barking was annoying you in a nice way. It’s not like he barks all day and night (we only let...

I have never written an open letter before but am amazed by its ability to get voices heard, that being said I hope I am heard. This letter is for the amazing mystery man who, while walking his dog, noticed smoke coming from my twin brother's house and without hesitation took action towards getting my sister-in-law, three-year-old niece and their 3 dogs out safely. My twin is a dedicated army man who was deployed when the fire took place (he is now thankfully in route to be with his family). What many people fail to realize is that the army wives have to find the energy to act as both mom and dad during deployment. With this being an extremely exhausting feat, along with raising a toddler, it would be tough to wake anyone from the state of a much needed deep sleep. As if being...

Dear Nikki Haley, The America First narrative that is emphasized under the current administration is disastrous for the state of the world. As a leading world power, America has a responsibility to take action to aid countries that may need assistance. The problem of arsenic poisoning may not be a pressing issue in the United States at this immediate moment, but it is prevalent in other poorer nations who cannot afford the same methods to keep their countries safe. America’s power and influence leads to an obligation to take action in order to combat issues affecting undeveloped nations, such as arsenic poisoning. Arsenic is found in rice. Of course, it also is found in places that one might think of more typically, such as rat poisons and wood finishing substances, but where is is...

If you're reading this, that means you've successfully (or unfortunately, depending on how you view it) made your way to my letters. Maybe you're the person who sits across from me in study hall. Maybe you're a stranger living halfway across the world. For those two and everyone in between, please understand that this is quite possibly the most vulnerable I've ever intentionally been. Writing is scary. I often feel that writing (or any kind of art, for that matter), is not given enough credit for how petrifying it truly can be. Running a mile can be scary, sure. Chemistry can be scary, too. Opening yourself up in any form of art for the world to see is scarier. I joined this website to have a place to put my potentially controversial and fundamental opinions. Sometimes, I believe, things...
