Open Letter to Christians Supporting Trump

My heart hurts because of our political state in general. Neither Trump, nor Hillary seem to be "religious" or "moral" candidates. A President's personal religion is irrelevant, however. All religions are present in America, and we all have equal rights. Presidents have to make tough decisions, but at the basest level, a president should be FAIR. Despite their personal beliefs, Presidents should fight for the poor, the rich, the white, the black, the Christians, the Muslims, the gays, the seniors and the youth. We ALL matter.

How can a true Christian vote for anyone who believes that a certain group of people (based on whatever reason) are not worthy of respect or rights. I've heard Trump offend women, fat people, Mexicans, Muslims and the list goes on.

Here's a confession. I personally think the gay lifestyle is disgusting and unnatural. I also think abortion is wrong. But I also firmly believe that if GOD doesn't restrict our choices, what right do we have to restrict the choices of others. It shouldn't take an elevated IQ to understand this. We are not supposed to feel the same about everything, and that's why I vote Democrat.

In our home, the word "stupid" doesn't even have a place, so imagine how disheartening it has been to listen to the things that have come out of Trump's mouth. Ever since he used the word puss* during on of his rallies, I've had to listen to him with headphones on for fear that his disgusting and hateful rhetoric would be heard by my children. Donald Trump is not kind. Plain and simple. He will not fight for the rights of ALL Americans. The fact that Christians support him is nothing short of mind boggling.

When confronted about it, Christians say, "Hillary is probably just as nasty behind closed doors." And they're probably right. The same could be true for all of our presidents, but why can't we see that BEHIND CLOSED DOORS is the operative phrase because that's where this hate belongs. Not in our faces.

President Obama has not been a bad President. As a Christian, I'm blessed to see things beyond black and white. He doesn't look like me, and I'm 100% certain that if he did, many of his critics would be silent. Sometimes our race clouds our view of people, instead of reason.

I've said a lot. Sorry. But if I can change one Christian's mind about supporting Trump, I feel it's worth it. Be blessed all.
