Many years ago, as a young veteran striving to become an international entrepreneur. I was visiting a family friend and one of my business mentors Tom Coury Sr. who owned a chain of assisted living centers for seniors in the suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio. He had called me and requested a mystery meeting while I was visiting my mother in Parma. He said he had some people he wanted to introduce to me and it could be "a very prosperous opportunity". Since Tom was already a multi-millionaire and I was still struggling to make my first million, I was all ears.
So upon arriving to Tom's office on the second floor of the old Aristocrat South nursing home, he introduced me to his son-in-iaw, Joseph Abou Chedid, who went to work at TRW in Michigan when they had the rights to the original Hummer, now owned by General Motors. That was a short meeting and Joseph went on to recommend me for a marketing position for TRW for Latin America, since I held a similar position at a Fortune 500 company before.
After that meeting Tom said his "CIA friend" was running late so we went for lunch at Pacinos and when we returned to Tom's office, a short man with a white Elvis type hair-cut added two inches to his actual height, was waiting for us. This would be my first, but not last meeting with CIA employees, so I was very curious what we could possibly have in common. I would find out over the next hour we spent together.
The man was introduced to me as Heinrick Rupp aka Heinrich Rupp from Colorado where he claimed to own and operate a small gold refinery in Aurora. Tom then pointed out that we were both pilots and that fact ignited a great chat about favorite aircraft, etc. Rupp claimed the most fun he had flying was in a ME-109 which was Germany's premier fighter plane during WWII. When I asked where he had the chance to fly one of the relics he confided he flew for the German Luftwaffe during the war and was brought to the USA as part of "Project Paperclip" which led to his work for the CIA, and his then current friendships with George Bush Sr. and his successor at the CIA Bill Casey. https://historyheist.com/glossary/operation-paperclip/
Long story short, i was invited to participate in a legitimate and lucrative business opportunity in Zurich, Switzerland in which both Tom and himself needed a proxy. The trip would earn me a $100,000 fee and a nice residual income for years. It was to be a gold purchase that frankly was a deal made by diplomats who were in the right place at the right time to exploit a supply and demand opportunity in Africa.
So after the terms and conditions were explained, discussed, and negotiated, the conversation turned back to aviation and that is when Heinrick share some of his most daring and dangerous missions, but he said the most memorable of all was secretly flying George Bush, Bill Casey, and Donald Gregg, (the latter of whom I would later cross paths with in 1995), to Paris to meet with the Iranian officials who deliberately delayed released the American hostages. Although George Bush denied it for years until Richard Brenneke was acquitted by a jury. After that point Bush would simply respond "No comment" when asked about the now Infamous "October Surprise". Rupp told Tom and I his story which fully jived and confirmed the below events.

BTW... Rupp's story was not only confirmed by Brennecke, but also by the two other pilots on the flight deck, and French witnesses who never appeared in American courts, but who vehemently insist they did in fact see George Bush in Paris that day.
Rupp would later be charged with a phony bank fraud, or perhaps I should say, a CIA-sanctioned banking operation in which Heinrick became the default fall guy. The sole purpose of the fabricated charges was to smear and discredit him since a Congressional investigation into "The October Surprise" was surely coming. Facing serious charges Bush assured him that the charges would disappear if he would walk back his story about the Paris trip. When Rupp refused to do so, he was convicted and sentenced to 41 years in Prison, and the CIA even had the balls to deny knowing Rupp nor anything about the Paperclip operation!
This is how the Bush family rolls as I would later find out first hand when I went to work for one oh his many cut-out front companies without realizing it for a full year! (Most of these front companies actually do legitimate biz on the surface and their covert sins are not detectable - until someone makes a mistake)
But the bottom line is that President Jimmy Carter was too decent of a human being, and too honorable to push America into the mother of all scandals at the time. As a good Christian he forgave George Bush and actually prayed for the evil man at his funeral. Since Jimmy Carter lived a saintly life, it is not hard to understand why he prayed for the devil on Earth.
Congress and Senators were not so forgiving however, and they both opened investigations into "The October Surprise". Yet they were extremely careful because a very popular Ronald Reagan was just elected as a result of his running mate's criminal acts. As usual, the CIA created false documents and a photo to confuse investigators, two juries, and the public. Georg Bush Sr. dodged yet another bullet when in fact, like his father Prescott, he should have been charged with treason. George Bush Jr. plunged America into a Second Iraq War based on his lies about Saddam's non-existent "weapons of mass destruction" that resulted in 600,000 civilian deaths, including 8,000 children, reduced a modern Baghdad to rubble, and created over 300,000 orphans and twice as many refugees.
None of this would ever happen on Jimmy Carter's watch who advocated peaceful and fair solutions.
