Dear Mrs. Padilla,

Warm greetings to you.

I write this letter not as a critic, but as a concerned Filipino citizen who still hopes for a better government — one that genuinely serves the people over personalities.

We all know the profound influence that a partner can have in shaping a man’s direction, especially in moments of national importance. You have stood by Senator Robin Padilla through his transformation from a public figure in entertainment to one of the highest elected officials in the land. As his partner, you know his strengths, his values, and what drives him at his core.

It is with deep concern, however, that I reach out to you now — because the actions of Senator Padilla in the Senate appear to reflect not the will and welfare of the Filipino people, but an unwavering loyalty to one political clan: the Dutertes.

Time and again, instead of focusing on issues such as inflation, poverty, justice reform, education, and national unity, your husband’s statements and efforts seem overly focused on defending the Duterte family, often at the expense of objectivity and broader national interest. While personal loyalties are understandable, a senator’s sworn duty is to represent all Filipinos — regardless of region, family ties, or political affiliations.

The Senate is not a platform for blind allegiance, but a chamber for deliberation, fairness, and the protection of democracy. We, the people, did not elect senators to act as mouthpieces of political dynasties. We elected them to uphold truth, accountability, and public service.

As someone who undoubtedly has your husband’s ear and heart, I humbly ask that you speak to him. Remind him of the power and responsibility he holds. Encourage him to serve with independence, integrity, and courage — not for one family, but for millions of Filipinos whose voices are too often drowned out by politics.

Senator Padilla once captured the public’s imagination as a man of action, one who stood up for what he believed in. There is still time for him to become a true public servant — but only if he chooses country over clan, principle over partisanship.

Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. I hope it serves not to offend, but to open doors to reflection and conversation — for the good of our nation.

With sincere hope,
Anonymous
A concerned Filipino citizen
