Dear Gawker's lazy reporter, Melissa Cronin,
On 11/28/2015, you published "Donald Trump Rally Features Circus Elephant Owned by Man Who Was Repeatedly Arrested for Animal Cruelty". In the article (or whatever this was supposed to be), you make a pile of statements and allegations of wrongdoing, but you failed to bother to actually look up the facts before you wrote your gossip piece.

This is one of many FACTS that prove that Topsy the elephant did not have TB; and people like you keep taking the cheap shots in trying to get a little attention for a sorry excuse of journalism. Shame on you.
Try doing your research sometime, instead of just masticating and regurgitating the same tired, poorly written story other people already wrote.

This article is an excellent example of lazy reporting that lacks any attempt at fact finding. Frank Murray is not and never has been an animal abuser. In fact, most of the complaints made for the so-called animal abuse came from the fact that Topsy the elephant had a noticeable limp, due to a birth defect where one leg was shorter than the others. So-called animal rights activists made complaints, falsely alleging that Topsy’s limp was due to injury and maltreatment. The truth is that Topsy had nothing but excellent care her long and happy life.
Actually, Frank Murray should be commended for adopting an elephant no one else wanted and giving it such a loving family to live with. (Yes, the Murray elephants, cats, dogs, horses and even the pig are all treated like family members- not pets.)
Born Free, where you cite your source, did not fact check and spread slander. You just cannibalized it and reposted it. LAZY! And Topsy did NOT have TB. Next time, you might want to try looking up public records, arrest reports and criminal complaints and other FACTS before you go spreading gossip! It’s amazing the Murray’s aren’t pursuing a defamation case against you. I would.
