My girlfriend likes to do the classic 'let me pick a movie', then she takes unto an hour to decide what she wants to watch and promptly falls asleep after the first five minutes. So the other day it was her 'turn' to choose a movie and she said lets watch Trainwreck, tired of protesting I agreed and we settled down to watch it.

First of all I had no idea LeBron was in it! Bill Hader is a funny guy who has never seemed to be able to crack a lead role and I wasn't too familiar with Amy Schumer's work either. But upon watching it all three of them shined and if there's an indication of how enjoyable it was it is that my girlfriend stayed up to watch the whole thing.

But LeBron was perhaps my biggest surprise! In a film that also featured sportsman John Cena in a hilarious role, it was the addition of LeBron - a hugely successful basketball player - that added a new level of humour. It isn't unusual for sportsmen to bring their success into the film industry, the like of the Rock have shown how having a physicality and presence can immediately impress.

Usually when someone outside of acting comes into a film they are very precious about everything and want to be taken seriously and therefore don't always fit well into the role. But it seems that not only did LeBron have great fun but that he was also willing to look silly and be that caring friend we all should have. Apparently he was willing to improvise and this resulted in some of his best scenes too, you shouldn't underestimate how difficult this can be for someone new to acting.

LeBron didn't just have a cameo role, rather he was the supporting actor to Hader and was frequently in and out of the shots, stealing a lot of those scenes from the actors.

Its surprising to think how we take a lot of things for granted in sports, often you rarely get a glimpse into the players' personalities and when you do it is in the emotionally charged surroundings of a stadium. Trainwreck allows us to see a different side of LeBron and for once in the 'cameo sportsmen' trend it comes off! Who knows perhaps he has a big future ahead of him, with over 20 million fans on Twitter he definitely has the following that a lot of film studios look for and this can help guarantee success.

I really enjoyed this movie and I enjoyed LeBron's performance, it was reminiscent of all those 'bro' vine videos and Instagram videos of 'how best friends react'. There might have been one or two scenes that felt odd to me and his presence took me out of the film a bit but that's probably down to the fact that he was working so well and naturally that they added more of him.

Overall Trainwreck is well worth seeing and especially if you are a LeBron fan and want to see his comedic side in full swing.
