Dear Friends and Neighbours,
As members of the North Island–Powell River and Courtenay–Alberni communities, we truly believe that the federal Conservatives and Poillievre pose an existential threat to Vancouver Island and Canada.
We are writing to ask you to commit to voting strategically to stop the Conservatives. In our ridings, this means voting NDP.
Please sign our pledge, talk to friends & family about strategic voting, and volunteer to help get out the vote on Election Day, Monday, April 28th.
Why Strategic Voting Matters: The Conservatives cannot win if the rest of us rally together.
North Island–Powell River and Courtenay–Alberni have elected either an NDP or a Conservative - not a Liberal - in every election since 1974. Let’s be clear: the Liberal and Green candidates in these two ridings do not stand a chance of winning, no matter what happens nationally. Whether your priority is to stop the Conservatives, or elect a Liberal government, voting NDP locally is the only way to support that outcome.
Pollievre and the Conservatives present a clear and present danger to the social and environmental values that we share. Their Trump-style rhetoric is polarizing and harmful to our communities. Tax cuts for the wealthy, privitatization of critical services, cutting environmental protections and pushing projects that increase climate change impacts are not the way forward for Vancouver Island or Canada.
Aaron Gunn’s record is alarming – with hate filled views toward Indigenous peoples and alignment with far-right figures like Elon Musk and MAGA-style politics.
In North Island–Powell River and Courtenay–Alberni, the only way to stop a Conservative win is to rally behind the strongest candidates—and here, that’s the NDP.
Every vote counts. Vancouver Island is likely to determine the balance of power in Parliament. Electing strong NDP MPs like Tanille Johnston and Gord Johns ensures our voices are heard.
