Fellow concerned citizens.

We must not discount the value of Donald Trump. While he may not be the best suited candidate to be our president, he is tapping into a frustrated America that no longer is willing to abide with the status quo. Below is a draft letter I would like to propose to Mr. Trump in an effort to see him use his power where I believe we need his assistance.

Dear Mr. Trump:

I am writing to you in hopes that you will reconsider the intent of your current presidential win and redirect it to an even more powerful goal – the restructuring of American government. By taking on such a campaign you will not only change America forever but will truly secure it as a powerhouse in the governance of the world while also securing your place in history as the new father of the country. Here is my idea . . .

You have amassed such popularity and power with the American people that we want to support you. However, I believe that your place in American history will have less impact as president and more impact as a revolutionary. The office of the president cannot succeed as long as we continue to suffer the perils of a bi-partisan system. Furthermore, a presidential position is wrought with so many distracting issues and personal attacks that it is near impossible to truly accomplish any changes that will make a difference. Instead, your power is with the people – not the system – and it is the peoples ear that you have.

You, and only you, have the ability to defy current political agendas to lead a revolution and re-write the structure of our government. Under your leadership and influence we the people can give life to a constitutional convention and a disbanding of congress that will allow us to re-build both critical components of our government. Only then can our country re-emerge as an effective and competitive leader in the new global society.

The constitution is in dire need of updating to reflect the new world of technology, communication and global social and economic norms. Yes, we all agree the intent of the constitution is still valid but the verbiage is outdated for the new world order.

Congress is no longer able to represent our people – it has become a divisive bipartisan institution designed to usurp power for only those individual in its’ grip. We all know this but nobody knows what to do about it. The answer is a revolution by the people to rebuild congress as a representative institution beholden to its citizens – not the individuals of which it is made.

Congress needs to be rebuilt to emulate a system similar, but not identical, to a parliamentary system like the UK. Rather than two senators per state in the Senate and only Democrats and Republicans in the house we need to diversify congress. For every state in which there are people that constitute 15% or more citizens belonging to any given party (Republicans, Democrats, Independent, Green, etc.) we need representation. Each state should have a one representative in the Senate for every party that has 15% or more of its’ citizens represented in that state.

Similarly, the house should provide for representatives from every party relative to the number of people registered in each party in that state.

Other radical ideas yet to be explored include collapsing state representation into regional coalitions more in line with the resources, cultural norms and economic strengths shared by those regions (i.e. collapse the New England states, Southwest, South, Midwest, Mid Atlantic, Central plains, etc. each into single states).

Finally, why is it that citizens can only vote for a member of the party to which they are registered? Should we not each get to vote for one member of each party in each presidential primary as well as congressional seat elections? Would this not better reflect the candidates and platforms that represent the people?

Such radical changes will force our current bi-partisan initiatives to work with one another as no one party can be a majority without building coalitions with other parties.
Imagine the impact such a change would have on our country. And who better to lead the charge than Donald Trump! This would have a greater impact than taking the office of president and will truly tap into the message form the collective wisdom of the people of the United States.

I hope you will consider these points and choose to use your power accordingly by dropping out of the race for president in favor of becoming the new father of our country.
