Dear Mr Al Hasawi,
You’re one of us. A fan of Nottingham Forest Football Club. We don’t doubt it – we saw the way you celebrated the win at Derby, we saw you pose in front of the flag outside the City Ground, we’ve seen you live through the highs and lows.

You say you want this football club to succeed. So do we, desperately. The investment you’ve made cannot be questioned but where is the plan? There has to be a plan. There has to be a structure. There has to be strategy. There has to be the right people in place for Nottingham Forest to succeed.

Off the pitch and on it, our club has to be run in the right way or success will never be achieved. Look at the recent success stories in football, like Southampton and Swansea – these are clubs that identified their issues and created a plan, a structure, a strategy with the right people in place. And now look at them. There is no reason why Nottingham Forest can’t follow their example, there is no reason why we can’t achieve what they have.

The plea from the fans is a simple one. Work with the right people to achieve the glory we all crave. The great Brian Clough didn’t do it alone, he had the right people around him and look what happened. You have to do the same or we’ll continue to lurch from one mess to another.

There is no point trying to do it alone, it won’t work, football is too complex an industry nowadays for success to be achieved without a team of people pulling in the right direction.

We’re getting tired of the constant change, tired of the public embarrassment, tired of the mess, tired of being ridiculed. We want to continue to believe in you and everything you say but it’s getting harder to do so.

Nothing would give us more pleasure than to see you cheering on the team in the Premier League, tweeting about the latest graduate from our Academy to score a winner at Derby or parading trophies in Kuwait.

But, unless we have a plan, a structure, a strategy with the right people in place it simply will not happen.

Regards,

Simon Bristow
