Dear Nana and Pop-Pop,

I have been struggling to find the perfect words to describe the amount of gratitude I have for the both of you, but honestly, no words will ever accurately describe this feeling. However, I want to try.

Thank you for raising my father to be such an incredible person. The lessons he has instilled in me since birth, the words of encouragement he has shouted from the stands during my field hockey games, and the way he has always praised my hard work are all things came about because of his upbringing. I wouldn’t be who I am today without him.

Thank you for always loving me no matter what. I know I have made mistakes in my life, but your love has never wavered. At times, you were like my parents and angry for things I did, but moments later, you would be my best friends listening to my latest story: good or bad. Whether it's 2 a.m. on a Monday morning or 7 a.m. on a Saturday morning, I know I can always call you.

Thank you for spoiling me. No, I don’t mean all of the presents you give me on my birthday and the holidays. Yes, I appreciate them greatly, but I’m talking about the hugs, kisses, love, support, and times you have given me over the last 20 years. I know that sometimes I am not the best at showing it, but I always appreciate the things you do for me.

Thank you for never being too busy for me. Every year in elementary school, Sabold Elementary School hosted a Grandparent’s Day where all of the students were able to invite their grandparents to spend the day making crafts, eating lunch, and reading books. Never once did Nana miss this event, even when I had to call her the night before at 9 p.m. because my mother’s mother bailed… again. You have no idea how much that means to me. You have been present at every event, important or not, in my life and for that, I am ever thankful.

Thank you for always protecting our family. You always have our best interests at heart and will always come to our defense whenever we need you. This means the world to all of us. Our lives would not be as amazing without you.

You two are the epitome of what grandparents should be. I am completely blessed to have you in my life. I would not be the person I am today without your unwavering support, consistent encouragement, words of wisdom, and unconditional love. I love you both with all of my heart.

Love,

Amanda
