I never thought that it would come to this. I never thought that equality would be so far from grasp. I never thought that I would be the one to walk the moral high ground. I also never thought that half of you didn't care. Hell, I never thought that life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness were alienable. But apparently they are.
They don't care about liberty, or justice, or even TRUE freedom. They only care about themselves and their beliefs. Their selfish. Like the toddler that looks into the bowl of another and asks "why don't I have as much as him?", instead of asking "does he have enough?". Except you're not a toddler, you're an adult... an adult who would rather deny the truth about the coward they've elected than confront your bias and admit you were wrong, that you've been duped, America. It's time we have a conversation.
I was duped. Duped by my catholic upbringing, duped by my Latino patriarchal indoctrination, duped by my government, swindled by the banks, and oppressed by gender roles. We've all been duped. Just admit it.
Admit it so we can move on. Admit it so my gay brother can marry freely, admit it so women AND men can have access to Planned Parenthood, admit it so we can catch up to the rest of the world and offer comprehensive healthcare to our citizens, admit it so my Muslim friends aren't registered, admit it so my black friends can finally see light in the darkness they've been treading through for hundreds of years, admit it so people can have their natural medicines and pursue their happiness, admit it so we can start repairing the damage we've done to OUR earth and to our country.
These are dangerous times. We don't know all the pieces on the board and frankly, we don't even know what game they're playing. But we DO know it involves keeping us poor, keeping us divided, keeping us under surveillance, it involves racism, hate, and bigotry, it involves division and vitriol, it involves being un-American, it involves debt for us and for our children, it involves inflation, the banks, the money, it involves war and profiteering, it also involves the military industrial complex and militarization of our police force, it involves deforestation and patents on life itself, we know this game also involves gentrification, it involves the media and fake news, and involves one of the most expensive healthcare systems that keeps us sick, it involves binary gender roles, it involves cutting budgets for education and NASA and massive student loans, it involves paying athletes more than teachers, it definitely involves standardized testing, this game they're playing involves religion and jihad, it involves terrorism and false flag operations, but most importantly, it involves control. Control of you and me, control of everyone.
Do you want to be a part of that? Ask yourself this now, because no matter what you think, you are NOT one of them. Now is when we take a stance against tyranny and oppression, not when a boot is crushing our throat.
