With the second half of this year's MotoGP well on its way I am particularly excited to see where the winner's trophy is going to end up. For me the likes of formula 1 too frequently tends to be a one horse race and this dulls the excitement. I was fortunate to watch the grand prix in Dubai with a group of friends last year and let me tell you it was a pretty boring affair from the off with no one even touching Lewis Hamilton and the majority of us ended up just sitting indoors waiting for it to end.

But MotoGP feels different to me and in particular because of the participation of Valentino Rossi. Having recently broken Angel Nieto's 29 year old record, Rossi now has the record for the longest interval between the first grand prix podium finish and the latest podium finish across all grand prix classes.

Rossi's definitely made a strong impression throughout his career and I'd have pipped him to be the one on the top of the leaderboard, but a slip up had left him in fifth place and he's fought back to second, leaving the title race open. It is these blips in performance and a close title race that makes Moto so much fun to watch and keep track of, of course you will always have your regulars who always end up at the top - just like Chelsea and Manchester United in football - but the pressure and expectation on these guys is great to watch.

I'm still expecting him to take the title but it makes for an exciting few races and there seems to be so much more in it when the guys are on bikes. This would be Rossi's 10th grand prix title and well deserved, but he's definitely getting some stiff competition from teammate Lorenzo who is currently at the top of the leaderboard.

All I can hope for is some excitement and good performances to come from all the guys and no doubt the overall winner will have learnt his place on the podium. So good luck to you all and I can't wait to see whether Rossi can make it to the top for the 10th time!
