An Open Letter to Bonnie Henry, BC Provincial Health Officer August 27, 2021 Dear Dr. Henry, I am absolutely appalled by your announcement on Monday August 23, 2021 that you will be enabling the assault of thousands of British Columbians in addition to ensuring the violation of Canada’s Charter of Rights and Freedoms. With the implementation of a medical apartheid in the form of a vaccine passport you are going against the foundational principles that Canada was built on, a country that I used to be proud to call my home. According to legal precedent set in the Supreme Court of Canada, medical treatment is an assault if it’s done without informed consent of the patient. The concept of informed consent is illuminated in a couple of historical cases on the matter. As...

Your Royal Highness, My name is Olga Belka. I am an underwater artist developed a unique underwater painting technique. Also, I am the world's first underwater portrait painter. I am writing to Your Royal Highness knowing that Your Royal Highness are really passionate about diving. I have the idea to create a charity event related to diving. To do this I would be happy to be invited by Your Royal Highness to create together an underwater painting with the aim of selling it at one of the charity auctions. All proceeds from it should be donated for organizations developing a vaccine against the COVID-19 virus. I had my personal exhibitions and participated in international events in many countries. This gave me an understanding of how many people in different countries are...

Dear Mr Johnson, We, UK Citizens Pandemic Action Group, (UCPAG), refer to our member’s letter to the Department of Health and Social Care dated 5 February 2020, expressing concern that, unlike so many other countries, the UK remains completely unrestricted to the entry of infectious persons directly from China, despite an impending COVID-19 pandemic. As you will, no doubt, be aware, most non-EU countries have the benefit of travel suspensions and restrictions, including, now, restrictions relating to arrivals from Italy, Iran, Thailand, Japan and South Korea. There is also screening and temperature checking at the border of all countries, (apart from the UK), as recommended by the WHO. Regrettably, the response we received from the DHSC was not very satisfactory - it...

My Love for Florence Dear Florence, Ever since I visited your city for a school trip, I have been entranced by its immense beauty. I was greeted with rolling hills with different colors of green, and wheat fields that remind me a lot about my temporary home in Moscow, Idaho. When I saw your seemingly-endless sunflower fields, my jaw dropped. I’ve never seen so many sunflowers in my life! Another impressive place I visited was the Boboli Garden. Every section of the garden radiated beauty, and each one was unique in its own way. Whether I was admiring the sculptures from the 16th through 18th centuries or just meandering down a path of overlapping trees, I loved the adventure of getting lost in the garden and not knowing what to expect. I was also in...

I’m sure you’re nice people. That’s why I don’t blame you, even if you laughed to yourselves after (one of) the most traumatic event(s) that I remember of my ‘early years’. I saw you at Munich Airport at three in the morning. The sun wasn’t up, but obviously you were. I was half awake, mindlessly trotting after my family as we rushed to find our flight without even being able to understand the signs. I remember hungrily staring at every restaurant we ran past, salivating at the thought of food even after a big breakfast. At a particularly scrumptious picture of apple danishes posted outside of a bakery, from which wafted an odour that I like to think resembled that of the gates of heaven itself, I paused. My moment of hesitation wasn’t enough to make me lose sight of my...

Dear Responsible Travelers, I am writing from a remote Himalayan destination. The reason for approaching the global responsible traveler community is to make them aware of their power in developing sustainable tourism initiatives at the natural and cultural resource rich but economically poor regions all around the globe. I hope all of you will agree with the definition of Responsible Tourism as summarized by Dr. Harold Goodwin with reference to the Cape Town Declaration on Responsible Tourism (2002). Well, as a bonafide resident of one of the UNESCO's designated World Heritage Site of Nanda Devi National Park in India and thereby a legitimate primary stakeholder in the tourism debate, I am raising few questions. Before doing that, I wish to emphasize that much before...

When I started teaching, I knew it was going to be challenging. After all, I’d be shaping young minds and helping them tap into their potential, and I knew that the way I went about it would make a difference in whether they’d learn anything or not. I wanted to do a good job and be the best teacher I could possibly be, but it wasn’t until I actually started my first class that I realized just how life-changing this experience was going to be. Right now, I’m very glad I took the plunge and started teaching English as a second language. I love children, and working with them every day has always been a dream come true. It’s lovely to see a young mind opening up to knowledge, and I’m glad I have the opportunity to help them with that. Most of the kids I teach are really sweet, and even...

All my life I had wanted to travel the world and eventually take roots in a foreign country. Not expecting it would happen this way, it did. My fiancé was offered a job opportunity in Dominican Republic. Now you’re probably thinking who wouldn’t want the opportunity to live in the Caribbean, bask in the sun, eat the local foods, and learn a new language. Yes I was consumed with the idea and my fiancé was too. So we started our move to Santo Domingo. The first city of the new world. Colorful, beautiful architecture, and history for days. What’s not to love? Everyone back home kept exclaiming how excited I must be and I was. From others, I got told how crazy we were. Which may be the case but back to the point; deep down I was more than terrified to move to a new place not knowing anyone...

Dear slower driver in the left lane, How could you possibly think that going 60 mph in a 70 mph is okay, especially if you’re in the left lane? Truth is, it is not okay if there is a whole line of cars behind you trying to at least drive the speed limit. I was on my way back home for a family even and for miles I had been driving behind you and flickering my high beams at you because you need to move over for the 10+ cars behind you. I didn’t want to switch lanes and speed up just to get in front of you because that is more dangerous than you just moving over for all of us. It just annoys me so much when people don’t follow the rules, especially on the road where every driver’s lives are on the road. You should really think about other drivers more than just yourself because driving...
