Dear Donald Trump,
You are officially going to be the next president of the United States. Starting January 20th, 2017 you and Mr. Pence will be the symbols of our country. Currently people are genuinely scared of living in our country because of your policies. I myself have many fears of our country going backwards on the many civil rights movements we’ve worked so hard to achieve. I’m scared that the children of America will grow up seeing that their President has called a woman all of the following names: fat, a pig, a slob, and a disgusting animal. I’m afraid that little boys will see how their President has treated women and assume that it is alright. I’m scared that women will not have a choice over what to do with their own bodies. I’m terrified that America will no longer be a place of freedom and acceptance. You make me scared that the LGBT population will once again be punished for being true to themselves. It terrifies me to think that an LGBT teen can be denied help from counselors or even sent to shock therapy for simply being who they are. I can’t imagine a nation where a transgender teen is no longer by-law protected in their own school where they are supposed to feel safe. I don’t want to live in a country where I am afraid of being shot for simply being in the wrong place at the wrong time because a person has a permit that allows them carry a concealed weapon. I fear that millions of people who came to America for safety and new beginnings will be deported. The people who have had harder lives than you could have ever imagined. You say you will “make America great again”, how is living in constant fear great Mr. Trump? Your whole campaign revolved around fear of immigrants, the LGBT community, and people's rights being provoked. Congratulations, you have made me afraid. Yet, I am not scared of these people, but of you.
