This is my opinion, my ideas and only mine.
For everyone protesting the election. This is enough. The greatest thing about this country is FREEDOM. We have the right to burn the American Flag which disgusts me because of EVERYONE, all races, sexes and religions who have fought and died for our rights. You want to burn the symbol of freedom just because you lost an election???
What is the problem? You are the only ones entitled to an opinion and to elect the next president? Were you voting for Hillary because she was a woman or because you thought she was the right person for the job?
Think long and hard about the answer to that question because before you become offended, I am a middle-aged white, fairly well-educated woman and I didn't vote for her because I didn't believe she would fairly represent women and men of all ages, races, social and economic situations. Believe me, I look forward to the day a woman becomes President and that we are treated with the respect we deserve and paid for doing the same work. I just don't believe she was the candidate to do it.
I voted for Trump because I want a change. I am part of that Silent Majority they have been talking about who didn't exist.
I am tired of being one of THOUSANDS applying for a job and not getting it. I am tired of hearing about first responders and soldiers dying in ambushes when they are running into danger when the rest of us stand around videoing it. I am tired of hearing about OBAMACARE collapsing and wondering if my husband and I will have to choose between having a roof over our heads or paying for health insurance with the premium being higher than our rent or just taking a chance and not having health insurance and then being fined at the end of the year for NOT BEING ABLE TO AFFORD IT because we like living in something other than a tent.
Trump isn't going to deport EVERY naturalized and legal immigrant. I know this because I AM MARRIED TO A NATURALIZED CITIZEN; who in my opinion, is the only good thing to come out of NAFTA.
Why should the illegal immigrants get to have free healthcare, free education, use our government benefits when they don't pay into the system? My husband didn't. From the moment he began his new job, he was paying taxes and couldn't collect social security when he retired because he wasn't a citizen.
Before you become outraged just listen to me. I believe everyone deserves to live in this great country but NOT IN THE SHADOWS. They should not be afraid to hold a job that doesn't pay them under the table or have to worry if ICE is going to take them away. No one should have to flee their homeland because they are terrified to live openly. They should go through the proper channels just like we do when we have to work and/or visit another country.
Don't you have a passport to travel outside the United States? If you studied or worked abroad, didn't you have a VISA? Didn't you leave when your time was up? Why is it okay for you do that but not for them to do it here? I lived in Canada for a couple of years and I applied for a VISA to be there legally. Should I have gone across the border and hidden, trying to find a job that would pay me cash under the table and used their healthcare system? No and I didn't.
You stand around crying and wondering what is the country going to be like. Well if you are that worried about it then talk to your representative and ask for a town hall meeting. Remember folks, WE PAY THEM to represent us. For years, we have forgotten that they work for us. We pay them to do this job. They should be grateful that we chose them to do this job.
Give Trump a chance to show you what he can do. Stop protesting because the Democrats painted him as Satan. They were using scare tactics and frankly, he helped them quite a bit with some of his actions. I don't believe he is perfect but he is willing to try. Do you want to be in charge of 320 million + people? Do you want to spend your time trying to make the United States a better place when half of the people elected to help you are sulking because their candidate didn't win?
As to the groping of women where is the proof? This man is famous and spends a lot of time in front of the camera. Why did they pick this year and this close to the end of the election to come forward? If he was that horrible to them years ago why didn't they call the police then? Also, how many people haven't talked bad about the opposite sex at some point? He did this over 10 years ago. Are you the same person you were 10 years ago? I'm not.
We need jobs in the United States because the actual jobless rate is around 10%. The Dept of Labor doesn't take in account those who no longer have benefits or have just given up on finding a job that pays a living wage. They also use temporary and part-time jobs in their figure.
Are you not tired of wondering everyday if you will be able to pay your bills? Feed your children? Wondering if you go into work if the job is still there? If you can afford to go without your medicine to make it stretch?
I was and still am. Not all of this applies to me but quite a bit does. If you are not self-absorbed and can have the appearance of being open minded, I am sure you can give him a chance. Remember the phrase, "fake it until you make it?" This is the best time to apply it to our lives.
We all want people to believe the best in us and shouldn't we do the same for him? The only thing the two most unpopular candidates in the history of the United States could completely agree on was the fact we are a divided nation. There aren't a lot of politicians and we should just keep reminding them that we PAY them to work for us. Until now, we just took for granted that the direction the country was heading would somehow fix itself by the work of the few people we elected but thanks to outsider, we finally woke up and realized if we were doing the job they have been doing and are so comfortable doing, we would have been fired. They are drawing a check and not being held accountable for it.
We need to change the direction of the country and maybe, just maybe with our help, our government can finally start working again.
The Constitution begins with "We the People of the United States". We need to become those people again. I had to read it again this year because I couldn't believe how far we have strayed from being the greatest nation in the world. When they talk about bullying, the best example of this has been the election. Both sides were the biggest bullies I have seen in years. People of all ages have been shocked by their behavior whether they say anything.
I am an Average American and I approve this message.
