Dear England
Today I read an online disagreement between two people about whether or not we should allow the migrants in Calais into our Country. Both sides equally as passionate to express their opinion, but neither fully succeeding to find the words or evidence to support their argument.
Now, usually I don’t bother to read things like that which people post online. I see it as a cry for attention. Boredom maybe. Clearly wanting to get a response out of somebody and start and uneducated debate.
I am not a political person and I am not a religious person. But I am a lucky person. I am lucky enough to have been born into a country of safety and freedom. I am lucky enough to have a warm house, an education and food in my belly. I am lucky enough to have so little worry in my life that, along with the majority of other people in England, I can spend my time reading the newspaper and posting comments online about what people in other countries should or should not be doing. I am lucky enough to have choice.
I feel that the people with all these opinions about whether we should allow migrants into OUR country need to stop and think. Why, just because we were lucky enough to have been born here, do we have the right to decide who can live here? Surely, we were all born equal on this planet? I know society says differently, but WE ARE SOCIETY!!! It is down to us to view this differently and make a change!
Throughout history, there has been war. War to claim land and war involving religion. We are an advanced race, so why have we not yet figured out that war solves nothing? It causes misery, pain and suffering. We need to look at each other as equals and live together on this planet. It is the only one we have. And I am sure, given the CHOICE, we would ALL sleep safe and sound in our beds at night. Each and every one of us.
So please England, stop looking at this tiny island as OUR property and remember how lucky we are. Let us share, let us live together and let us look after each other.
Yours
A lucky person.
