Dear Me,
The burden you hold on yourself is heavy. You're letting life pass by as you sit and watch.
Therefore, the real question I have for you is
Are you actually living life… or just surviving in it?
When are you going to realize there is more to life than just school and work? When are you going to leave the house when you have free time and explore? Why do you spend so little time on doing what you want?
You are filled with Adventure. The barriers you put up in your mind for not doing what you want are mere excuses.
“I don’t have the time.”
“I don’t have no one to go with.”
“I don’t have the money.”
Gandhi once said, “Live as if you were to die tomorrow.” If you were to die tomorrow, would you be satisfied… with the life you lived? You were raised up to believe work and school is all there is to life.
Told
You need to graduate high school.
You need to graduate college.
You need to get into a career and work for the rest of your life.
Then after all that, you need to have a family and die.
Although having an education is important, having a life is more important.
My objective with this open letter is not to bash the education system. What they are telling/teaching you is important and needed.
What I'm telling you is that you only have one life. Do you really want to spend all of your life right now working towards a career, finally getting that career after years and years of hard work, then being too old and busy to explore and live life?
I know you are busy right now with a bunch of school and work tasks. It can be overwhelming at times. You try so hard to do well and put so much focus on school because growing up people thought you were too dumb to even make it this far.
What you are shooting for in life is what keeps you going everyday you wake up. In your eyes, what comes first is being successful in life, but what you fail to acknowledge is having enough time for yourself to enjoy life in the process.
I know who you are inside and out.
I know the hardships you endured in life.
I know what you want in life.
I know who you are fighting for in life.
We are not so different, you and I. We have the same struggles. We have a sense of adventure locked up inside us. We both see school and work as the main priority right now. Even over our own lives. The only difference is though
I am starting to see this as a problem, are you?
Sincerely, Me
