"When are you two getting married"

Subject: "When are you two getting married"
From: Please stop rushing us

My boyfriend and myself have been together for almost four years and there is no doubt in my mind that I will be spending the rest of my life with him. We have made our intentions known to one another and currently are enjoying saving up, traveling and planning our future together.

Maybe I am overreacting or maybe I am not, I'm not sure. So many people come up to us - friends, family, co-workers, etc. and always ask "When's the wedding?" or "When are you going to get married?". The thing is, it is not your decision to make nor is there a proper timeline we should be following. We want to save up to make sure we start our lives together on the right foot.

We want to have the wedding of our dreams without financially stressing out/wanting to kill one another. We want to buy a house together where we can make memories and start a family. All of these dreams cost money. We are actively doing our part in saving and hope to have a house before any next step.

Sure, just as any girl can be sometimes I might get impatient and want a ring but I am not going to push it to where it becomes a burden. I am loving my life with my boyfriend and I love creating new memories. So for everyone who keeps asking, please refrain from doing so or even ask us what our plans are. It comes across a lot better than the constant "You're not married yet?" or "Just propose already!".

I love my boyfriend more than anything in this world. He is the perfect combination of complicated and sane. He keeps me grounded and always checks in on our relationship to ensure it is in good health. So friends, family, etc. please don't worry. We will get married when we decide it is our time.

:)
