Suicide effects a lot of people, with some people you may not realize until it’s too late. In the novel ordinary people by Judith guest one of the main characters, Conrad, suffers from depression and even attempted suicide. A lot of people may never know until it’s too late or just not know how to help. No matter what I think any help at all is good.

Suicide is not a thing you would normally think about unless you/someone you know is thinking about doing it, it was in the news, or just on a tv show or movie you just watched. In ordinary people suicide and depression are talked about all throughout the book. It’s a very big deal in the circle of people inside the book. Conrad handles his depression fairly well after his suicide attempt. He does what he wants to do and thinks for himself. Even though he struggles he is back to “normal” at the end. Conrad’s father, Calvin, is always worried about Conrad and wants what is best for him. Calvin would do almost anything to help his son. Suicide is not something to just brush off. You never know who its going to affect next. It could be some random person you pass on the street or your kid/parents. says “suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the united states” Depression does not pick and choose, it will take anyone.

Some people believe that suicide is not something to worry about and that it won’t affect them, but you never know. Maybe it won’t affect you personally, but it could affect the people around you. “suicide takes the lives of over 44,965 Americans every year.” Says it affects a lot more people then first thought. Suicide may not be something to worry about for yourself but be aware of the people around you, you never know what could happen. People also think that you shouldn’t talk to someone if you don’t know how to help which is wrong because if you don’t know how to help its best to ask someone who will and put what they told you too your situation.

Suicide is something to worry about because you never know who it might affect. Just talk to as many people as you can and try your best to help them. If you don’t know exactly how to help someone don’t worry too much and maybe talk to someone who can.
