Dear Friend,
Although I haven’t seen you in a while I just kind of want you to know I’m thinking of you. We come and go, in and out of each other’s lives so gracefully. And although I’m not with you every weekend, and I don’t always know what you’re up to, I want you to know how much I still love you regardless.
I’ve come to learn, especially in adulthood, how quickly you can lose friends - and not just friends, but people you once considered your best friends too.
But with you, it’s never a question of what terms we’re on. We seem to just pick up where we left off each time. We laugh like time and distance hasn’t separated the two of us. I love you like family. I value you more than anyone, even if I don’t convey it. I quietly smile when you like something on my social media and send a silent blessings your way. When something good happens in your life I’m your biggest cheerleader. When shit hits the fan and you need someone, please know that I’ll drop anything to be there for you.
I love that we can go months without speaking. But if I shoot you a text, you reply within minutes. As we grow up, people allow time and distance to act as a barrier and an excuse for relationships ending and failing.
But ours hasn’t. And I don’t think it ever will. Thank you for that.
You’re the epitome of what a friend should be. Your presence in my life has never come bearing drama, only memories I’ll cherish forever. I value the time we do get to see each other and I look forward to it. I’ll look forward to being updated on your life the next time we grab lunch or a drink. You'll laugh as I tell you about everything that’s new but somewhat the same in my life. (This is me were talking about here.) I like to think I’ve changed, matured, and have grown up, but I still live to tell a funny story.
Sometimes the future comes bearing uncertainty, like where I’ll be in my life or who I’ll marry. Of the many things I’m certain of, one is that you’ll be there celebrating with me. Your name is reserved and imprinted on the invite list on the wedding day that I’m not even sure will happen. But more than that, your name is forever imprinted on my heart for all you have done for me. Thank you for growing with me as you have. Thank you for letting me grow with you. More so, thank you for all the love you have given me.
I can only hope I've positively impacted your life the same way. This isn’t a maybe thing - more like a forever one.
Sincerely,
Your friend
Now and forever
