Dear Teachers,
I have entrusted my kids to your care so you may nurture their youth with the right values and meaningful learning. When they do not get high grades in your subjects, do not excel in their projects, and do not pass some tests, I trust that you will shower them with loving discipline and kind reassurance that they are more important than their subjects, and projects, and tests. That those instances do not make them less important. And that their humanity is respected whatever academic circumstances they are going through.
If you can do this, I will be most grateful and confident that they are getting true education from you. If you make them feel any slight doubt that their subjects, and projects, and tests make them less worthy to be accorded compassionate concern and respectful attention, please hide fast. I will have no qualms making your teaching career a living hell.
Let us not get to that point. Know that you can talk to me anytime any of my children is at fault. Let us both reach out to my child to understand better what he is going through as we help him understand that we want the best for him. And please constantly make him feel that you want the best for him.
Every minute of the 8 hours my children spend with you is a moment I would so enjoy seeing them grow and have fun in whatever they are doing. Please treasure that time with them as any loving parent would. I understand that sometimes you have to be strict and firm, forceful and insistent – to enforce discipline. Whatever approach you take, please do it with love.
Finally, I am filled great enthusiasm and inspired energy every time I am with my children. I am forever blessed because they are a part of my life. I will always be thankful that I am playing a role to make them the best of who they are. I am hoping you feel the same. Your affirmation is my only gauge that my children are inspired by your presence and with that, you make them better individuals in the process. At the end of the school year, you will tell me about their subjects, projects, and tests. And I will be interested to know. But do not again make the mistake of thinking that those matter more than the quality of their being that I trusted you would fortify when I chose you to play a big role in their life.
Best,
