I have written to you twice before and you have not bothered to reply.
I am a human rights worker for Burma. There has been no transtion to democracy, the cease fire failed, ASSK has failed democracy and human rights in every way, Thein Sein and Wirathu incite discrimination and religious hatred and all the political leaders are guilty of or complicit to genocide.
Thein Sein forbids the use of the name Rohingya. This ethnic group are stigmatized, persecuted, tortured, raped and murdered. The authorities steal from them, burn their houses and prevent both food and medicine getting to them. Mass graves have been found - this all amounts to genocide.
Yet, despite your weak speeches in Geneva - which talked mainly about trade and not human rights (HR took about 3 lines) the UK gov has failed to condemn Burma for the atrocities. You mentioned your 'concerns' when a group of other nations did first a few days ago at UNNY. You are not the UN ambassador , you are the foreign minister for SE Asia. That means you don't just congratulate nations, it means you must speak up for human rights when they are denied. You must condemn Burma for disregarding human rights. And did you ask for the release of Phil Blackwood in July - we think you did not. The world or Human rights defenders condemn Burma and condemn you for being a useful idiot. We are all sick of the UK being the useful idiot, trading with countries with no human rights while they laugh at you and abuse your citizens. Hopeless!
We demand that you ask for Phil Blackwood's release. We expect it. He is innocent as charged as he had no criminal intent whatsoever and published an apology. He is suffering greatly and has lost 60kg and his cell is 6ft by 5ft with an open sewer. You try that. You've offended all of us so go try it.
It is not a crime to cause offence. He commited no crime as charged. A fine or deportment would have been accepted, by 2.5 years hard labour? Torture is rife in In Sein jail and many prisoners just 'die'. His ill health is on your hands. You have not condemned this. You are complicit in the denial of human rights to all the abused and tortured and extrajudicial killings. The UK is filthy with it's cronyism. eg Saudi Bahrain Burma etc. Money trumps human rights.
We demand to see you ask for Phil Blackwood's release and strong condemnation of the genocide of the Rohingya and the religious condemnation.
Yours sincerely
Mrs Chrissie Morris Brady
