July 4th 2014 Dear Assumption University, I am writing to you today to express my great disappointment in your establishment. When I register for your university last year, I had been told the greatest comments about Assumption: many consider it to be the greatest international university in Thailand. I was quickly disillusioned upon setting foot here and realized that if Assumption shined so brightly, it was more for its grandiose buildings than for the quality of the courses given. Put simply, Assumption is not an international university, no matter how much you’d like it to be. Oh, you can boast yourself with having the biggest number of foreign students and classes in English; but quantity doesn’t mean quality. It’s nonetheless amusing to meet seniors that can barely line...

Open letter to Oprah Winfrey: Plight of South African Youth - HELP I am well aware of your work in South Africa and your generosity towards the betterment of some of the young people. Currently we have close to 50% of the youth between the ages of 15-25 are out of school and unemployed. In 2009 after observing a number of young graduates coming out of university and failing to secure employment at the same time eager to start their own businesses, I realized that the this situation was widespread. I asked myself a question “If graduates are finding it hard to get jobs, what more of those that do not have such qualifications? And should we not as a country be teaching and instilling a culture of entrepreneurship in the very young”. I further asked myself “what should we doing as a...

This letter has been written to pose a question that nobody has thought of 'till now and has to be taken care of urgently. The Mechanical Engineering course in BITS-PILANI, K.K. Birla Goa Campus is struggling in terms of placement. The same condition exists in rest of the premier institutes in India. They are struggling for placements in the core branches of mechanical, chemical, electronics and to some extent electrical. But the current situation is not much the fault of the students, the faculty or the placement team. The following reasons which I feel impact the placements are : i) With the current market conditions of high inflation and low growth rate of GDP (

Dear Mr Gove, I am writing in the hope of persuading you to retract proposed plans to remove American literature English GCSEs and focus more on British authors. As a student of English Literature and Politics at The University of Reading I cannot help but feel that this would be a great loss to future generations of students in terms of what is commonly regarded as both an incredible art form and an important part of education. As a first year student of English Literature I must emphasise the important role that literature from other cultures played in my decision to continue my studies thus far. Although I have always had a great love for literature it was my English Language and Literature GCSEs that consolidated my passion for the subject and inspired me to pursue it to degree...

Formation and roll out of Entrepreneurship clubs/societies at every High School in South Africa SA Teen Entrepreneur Foundation, A Non Profit Organization that was formed by a concerned parent with a sole aim of promoting and seeding a spirit and culture of entrepreneurship in South Africa, is looking for funding to realize this dream. If South Africa is serious about increasing entrepreneurial activity , then it has to support structures like SA Teen Entrepreneur Foundation that are planting the seeds of entrepreneurship in our young children. Currently there are approximately 18 million teenagers in South Africa. If we take the fact that there are 27 000 high Schools in South Africa say with an average of 600 children in each, we can conclude that there are roughly 16 million...

An open letter to Iowans (concerning the University of Northern Iowa) In an attempt to elicit good publicity, the University of Northern Iowa (hereafter referred to as UNI) held UNI day at the Iowa State Capitol. This open letter will refute their claims that UNI is beneficial to our state, and it will also inform people of: their horrendous misuse of funds, the university’s discrimination of certain protected people, and what the Iowa Board of Regents does to fix these issues. For a university to tout platitudes but not honor those promises, that is morally corrupt, and it is detrimental to anyone associated with said university. Is it not egregious in our society to be called a hypocrite? to prove itself a hypocrite, UNI asserts that the following is true: No...
