Dear Parents,
I am writing this letter to appeal the Parents of High School student to stay aware and take action in monitoring their children’s online activity because that can impact on the college admission.
Nowadays, we live in the Internet and Smartphone time where information goes fast. When people post public videos or public contents on social media. It is immediately available on the world wide, and all people have access to the contents.
Now young people use a lot the social media and they have an unlimited access to internet. But they don’t always use it in the right way. For example, some people use social media to post bad contents like racist content, misogyny content and other. They are not aware about the consequences. That can have consequences for their future for example in their college admission.
We have the case of the young Kyle Kashuv. He is 18 years old and he survived to a gun shooting at his school. He applied for one of the best schools in United States Harvard. Firstly, he gets accepted and after some investigation Harvard rescinded his admission. At the age of 16, he wrote and post bad content on social media like racist content and misogyny content. Harvard find those writing and rescinded the Kashuv’s admission on Harvard.
That why I appeal parents to monitoring children’s online activity. We must teach to our children the way to use internet and social media. Because people can use your writing against you, even if they write something just to be funny. We must tell them there is some consequences if they use it I the bad way.
It is the parent’s duty to educate their children and teach them all about internet. They must know the good side but also the bad side of social media and internet.
Best regards
Kevin Kabore
