Dear Govt. Universities,
Before I put up my thoughts, I would like to give a brief self-introduction. I'm a girl, aged 26 years (happily pursuing my hobbies until now). Being the eldest daughter of my family, I manage to fend for my family somehow.
The reason I jotted this down is so that you consider what follows hereafter.
Like millions of girls, I too have a quest for knowledge. I never wanted it to fade. So, I opted to continue my studies by joining a Post Graduate Course in one of the government universities. Despite knowing that there are several loopholes in the government education system (as per word of mouth). I used to disagree with them earlier because I believed that with public support, the government can prove itself and shut everyone down. But I’m utterly disappointed with these regulatory bodies now. I don’t have an issue with irregularity in the courses that we pursue. I have an issue with the examination process.
Do you have any idea how a small decision can affect numerous lives? I guess no. That is why you keep on postponing the examination dates every now and then. Now, let me enlist all the repercussions for the inconvenience you cause to us.
1. Postponing exam dates not only postpones the degree but it also snatches the right from the aspirants if they wish to appear for any competitive exams (say Civil Services). Will the authoritative bodies give an age rebate to the aspirants because their exams were delayed?
2. For a girl, it becomes even more difficult. The society is so after the girls who have crossed 25 years age mark that they are hell bent on getting them married. The girl however gives in before their wishes with the thought to pursue her degree post marriage. God knows how they manage to do that. The ones who don’t bow (like me) have to suffer the consequences.
In Indian states, the girls who marry after 25 are given the tag of no-holds-barred. Indeed! We would take it as a compliment because we consider ourselves free-birds. We have chosen our sky ourselves. Don’t refrain us from flying high. Don’t chop our wings.
3. I, being the sole earner from my family, am unable to attend my classes regularly. Thanks to the college administration for understanding this. But the regular announcements and the postponement of the examination dates lead to the cancellation of my railway/flight/bus tickets (as good as the amount which would have financially helped my family).
I don’t really know what the specific reasons behind this delay or dillydally (as we say) are but it certainly is grossly demotivating.
At least for the sake of education departments’ image, please conduct the examinations on time.
