Early in the morning when the children put on different kinds of clothes and begin to go to schools for the sake of knowledge, we feel a specific kind of joy through their innocence. In Pakistan, we can see children of all ages begging on the streets, sweeping roads, cleaning cars at traffic signals, etc. Have people passing by ever wonder why these children are not going to school? Due to financial problems, they only watch others go to schools and can merely wish to seek knowledge. They have been forced to kill their aspirations, dreams and other wishes, they are pressed to earn a living for themselves and for their families. Child labor is a complex problem which demands a range of solutions. There is no better way to prevent child labor than to make education compulsory. Therefore...

Hi. I am 14. I am Korean. I have been living in America for the past year. I don't hate Japan or Japanese people. Japanese food is good. Udon and soba is amazing. I'm not a fan of your language or your movies (the voices creep me out) but I guess you guys are cool. I've met a lot of half-Japanese people here and they're nice. But I get really frustrated when somebody asks me why I have this thing against Japan. It's like asking a Jew, what do you have against the swastika? That's like, a really stupid question. I don't know where to start. So I get really frustrated. I get so annoyed how these Americans don't even know how much of a hellhole your grandparents made in Korea. So let me try to put this all together and make this into one thing. I don't think I can, but let me try. Do...

An Open Letter to the People Who Saved Me I was just another college freshmen. I was hanging out with the cool baseball guys on campus, making everlasting memories with my new found friends, and doing just the minimum to get by in class. I was having the time of my life until things took an unexpected turn and I fell into the darkest depression of my life. I felt helpless and out of control. I tried to give my life some type of control by turning to self-harm. I’m not asking for you pity, I just want to thank those who were there for me during my black out. To my Mom, Thank you for never giving up on me during my darkest hours. You reminded me how important it was to not give up on my faith and stay true to God. You gave me a shoulder to cry on when I needed it. You never became...

All my life I have been small, petite, skinny, lean, thin- however you want to word it. My least favorite description, is the word skinny. The word skinny is defined by one individual on Urban Dictionary as “Something a lot of girls want to be, also known as perfection…when thinness comes naturally, the girls who possess it get cocky and let their egos grow bigger than necessary.” Granted this is only one individuals subjective opinion, but I have to completely disagree with this subjection. Being skinny is not perfection, rather it’s a curse. I only wish I could have an ego about my thinness to replace my insecurity about how thin I am. Growing up, I was called a myriad of foul things by other kids, such as, “Skinny Bones Jones”, “Freak of Nature”, “Skinny Bitch”, “Stick Figure”, “...

As I’m sure you know, I’ve received notice of your impending lawsuit. I can’t say I was surprised. I know there are only two things that propel you: money and revenge. It’s sad that my opinion of you is such that I would instinctively expect dishonesty and depravity from you in return for my ending our relationship. We both know that your lawsuit is bogus and very little of the claims you make in it have any merit. They are all variations of the truth, re-worked to fit your needs. But when have you ever relied on truth to guide your conscience? First, my plans. I don’t plan to attend the trial. I can’t attend, even if I were inclined, which I’m not. But, you already know that since you are the direct cause of my financial situation. We also both know this isn’t about the money. This is...

Parish Hill. A small but mighty school that honestly not many people have heard of. If you have listened to some of the people in our three little towns, you may think that our school is this horrible place that is effecting your taxes and where kids are deprived of any oppertunity that a student at a bigger school might offer. With this being said, I thought it might be nice to get a students opinion considering noone has thought about us up to this point. So here is what I see when I step back and think about Parish Hill: I see a school where the music department wins gold and platinum and places in the top spots in state competitions. I see a school where all of the sports teams make states. I see a school where everyone works together to hold an event that raises over 5,...

To my son's Dad, I remember one night in particular after we first met when I had told you that I didn't introduce my son to the man I was dating right away because he would get attached too easily. You didn't make a fuss about it, you let it develop slowly over time and when the time was right you met my son. At two years old Cash met a man, a man he would later call Dad, you didn't push the bond you didn't force the connection between you two but you took the time, you made a commitment to a little boy who thinks you are a hero because you showed up to soccer practice, games, doctor appointments, school programs everything a father is, suppose to do you go above and beyond. It doesn't matter that you two don't share the same blood he is in every way a copy of you. He wants to be...

there's a lot of people in the world who all swear they're depressed. in some of these cases it may be true, but others not so much. depression is a lot more than people think. it isn't just being sad over something, it's being sad and not understanding why. when you're depressed you don't really feel anything, you wish you could and you wish you could explain why you've been in bed since 7 yesterday morning just laying there. you wish you had the motivation to get up and shower and just wash your hair but you can't because you're stuck in that bed just wondering when you're going to feel like you have to. walking into work and putting on the fake smile you think you've mastered and saying hi to all your coworkers who just think you're tired, which isn't all false. being depressed is...

I realize the title of this letter may be a little off putting but considering the recent movie releases of Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, if language like this isn’t being thrown around the office, then perhaps you haven’t considered the sense of urgency this new direction is creating. So to the executives of the Warner Bros and DC, I have to say I am sincerely disappointed with the way the cinematic universe is being handled. These are beloved characters that have been around for decades, established entire generations of fan bases, and have been going on strong since their creation. Now you folks have been in the movie and entertainment industry for many many years. And for many of those years, you have provided us with a large amount of enjoyable material...

“You can’t do that, it’s not rational.” “You’re weird!” “You can’t rewrite how things work.” All of these are statements that society has forced down the throats of young and old people alike. According to society, there is a fine line between being a genius, and being someone who has no grasp on reality. We are led to believe that things must stay exactly the way they are, and challenging that belief, leads to criticism, anger, and even hate. People are deathly afraid to express themselves in a manner that is not the “norm” in today’s age. They fear rejection, they fear not being accepted by their peers, and more importantly, their loved ones. That fear, is something that has to be beaten. Every new item, new idea, started out with someone being crazy enough, to question the way...
