Following we wrote to the Board of Luminar Technologies.

Dear Luminar Investor Relations,

We write to you as a group of committed investors based in Germany who have supported Luminar’s vision from its earliest days.
Our concern today is not theoretical—it is existential.

The autonomous vehicle sector is advancing at breakneck speed, and Luminar is losing critical momentum.
Every day of indecision is a day handed to competitors.

We urge the board to act immediately on a strategic leadership realignment:
• Austin Russell must return to lead Research & Development. His absence from the technical helm has left a vacuum in innovation and strategic direction. Austin’s unique ability to translate deep tech into commercial partnerships is not optional—it is foundational to Luminar’s identity and future.

• The CFO role must be restructured. The current financial leadership has not demonstrated the cost discipline or agility required in today’s capital environment. A leaner, execution-focused CFO would better serve Luminar’s operational needs and shareholder interests.

• Paul Ricci should remain as CEO. His operational clarity and strategic discipline are valuable—but they must be complemented by Austin’s visionary leadership and a more efficient financial strategy.

We are not alone in this view. Among European investors, there is growing frustration with the pace of innovation and the lack of decisive action.
The market is moving fast. Rivals are securing OEM deals, deploying products, and attracting capital. Luminar cannot afford to drift.

This is a pivotal moment. We urge the board to act swiftly and decisively to realign leadership and restore Luminar’s competitive edge.

Thank you for your consideration

Sincerely,
Yav on behalf of fellow investors in Germany and Europe
