I love you, and I think about you every single day. What is love? how could I possibly know that I've found it? Most importantly, what does it mean for each of us, going forward, with this knowledge that I love you?
What is love? Love is not a feeling, it's an action. It's often accompanied by feelings, but it goes so much deeper. A part of your soul becomes forever concerned with the well being of the other person. It's putting their needs, hopes, and dreams before your own. To truly love is to lay down your life for another, not because they deserve to live and you to die, but because the suffering you will endure could not compare to watching the other person suffer. Love is patient. Love is kind. It does not give up. It does not fail. It endures all things.
How could I possibly know I've found love? It's when I worry more about your up coming trials than my own. It's when I feel nervous for you. It's when I find myself praying more for you than for me. It's when my heart hurts for you. It's when your ultimate happiness means more to me than my own. It's knowing I would die for you.
What does this mean for you? It means you always have a true and dear friend in me. It means you have someone in your corner, always fighting for you, even when you forget to fight for yourself. It means you never have to wonder if someone really cares, because I always will. It means you have a piece of my heart, a piece bigger than perhaps I'd even like to admit.
What does this mean for me? It means I'll smile every time I hear your name. It means my heart will break for the things that break your heart. It means I'll pray for you, sometimes more than for myself. It means I'll rejoice in all that is good for you. It means I'll teach my heart to be okay when you disappoint me. It means I'll cherish you. It means I'll fight for you. It means I'll choose to overlook every single flaw within you. It means I'll be in pain when we're apart. It means I'll have to teach my heart to be okay with the way things are between us, because I'll always want us to be closer than we are. It means I can cry for you, because no tear shed for you is ever wasted. It means I believe in you, I have great hopes for you. It means I'll bear all burdens with you. It means I'll wait for you. It means I love you.
