I pride myself that after 58 years on this hurtling boulder I don’t hate anyone, not even the ex-wife. I am however prepared to make two possible exceptions in the shape of Mike Ashley and David Cameron. Now this is about the Toon which, everyone knows, is way more important than politics, so I think we should leave DC there. I am in the Ashley out and Boycott the world etc camp, but in an effort to come up with something different I thought a letter to a prospective buyer might move things, enema like, forward; so! Dear Sir Richard Branson (Or any other credible very rich person) Please come and buy our football club. As I’m sure you are aware, Newcastle United, by any measure, is a large Premier league (just…) football club with in excess of 50,000 tapped, and tens of...

Dear Kiely, Initially, I wanted to give you the benefit of the doubt after viewing your “Spectacular” video. I did not want to play judge and jury before actually hearing what you had to say for yourself. While I understand your disclaimer states you intended to “bring attention to a serious women’s health and safety issue”, I also think it’s safe to say you went about it the wrong way. Hence the reason, I expected you to own up to the mistake and be accountable for your irresponsibility in addressing this very serious problem. Because you didn’t apologize, I decided to provide a direct written appeal pleading with you to make better choices in the future. In addition, if you were really attempting to get people “to talk more” about date rape and promiscuity, I hate to be the...

Dear Warner Music Group Executives: The BBC reports that 20 million people wanted to purchase tickets to the historic Led Zeppelin show held at the O2 Arena on Dec. 10, 2007. Needless to say, with only 20,000 tickets available, there were many disappointed fans who couldn’t be there when the band took the stage for the first time in 19 years. Immediately after the show, grainy, low-fidelity clips appeared on YouTube and were eagerly watched by fans. I was one—hoping to see how the band had changed since I had seen them in June 1977 at Madison Square Garden. Alas, within hours you started to pull down the clips, claiming copyright infringement. Your actions completely underestimate the power of a rabid fan base to help sell legal recordings, which is, after all, what you want. I...

My Dear Friends, Today is the greatest day you've ever known. Seven years, seven months, and ten days ago, the clock struck midnight, 2000, and the world began turning faster. Back then, I disbanded the Smashing Pumpkins because the new millennium demanded it. A new age needed a new start—cleanliness and unity, not the confused, confusing wreck I let the band become. We were once the most important band in the world, and everyone—me, you, Courtney Love—knew it. The Smashing Pumpkins drew the line between Black Sabbath, the Bee Gees, and the Cure, and that line caught a generation like a leash around a wayward puppy. We founded Alternative Nation, and the kids and advertisers flocked around. But because the band had become bloated, overbearing, headstrong, because it grew beyond...

Dear Rap Music, I've been known to "throw my hands in the air and wave 'em like I just don't care." I used to hit up your shows and you could often "find me in the club, bottle full of bub," where, if your beat thumped enough and your hook looped just right, I could be enticed to "jump motherf*cker, jump motherf*cker jump." And while I've never really been "down with O.P.P.," I do "like big butts and I cannot lie..." And man, those days were the days. But now that I have two daughters, two centers of the Universe, these are not those days. I am breaking up with you, Rap Music, and it's not you, it's me. And it's also, kind of, you. It's your rampant misogyny, homie. It is an epidemic. Your unapologetic sexism is a scourge on an otherwise exceptional cultural phenomenon. A...

Dear Hollywood, How’s it going? Well, I can tell how it’s going, considering how much money you’re making at the moment. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 made $47 million just from foreign territories, and it hasn’t even been released in the US yet. Congratulations. I’m glad you’re making money. You spent a lot, and I know how much effort it takes to make a movie, plus you are a industry, so you are looking for a return on your big investment. I get that. That’s cool. That does not mean I have to appreciate your content. Fact is, Hollywood, I was in Wales for a couple of weeks recently, where I was very cut off from the outside world. I went to the cinema twice, to see Noah and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and the rest of the time was spent watching mostly foreign and/or non-...

Dear Cecile Richards, Please stop abusing civil rights history to justify your present-day killing fields. Martin Luther King Jr’s memory is not a dummy that you can manipulate like a ventriloquist. Although he was given the inaugural Margaret Sanger Award (which was accepted by his wife, Coretta Scott King) from the nation’s largest birth control chain in 1966, he wasn’t CECILE RICHARDS' JUNETEENTH TWEETpraising the slaughter of millions that Planned Parenthood was plotting to make central to its mission. The nation’s abortionist-in-chief tweeting about Juneteenth, a celebration of the abolition of the dehumanizing institution of slavery, is like China celebrating freedom of speech. “No one is free until all are free” apparently doesn’t apply to the millions of innocent human beings...

Dear Mayor, London is Europe’s leading mega city. It has the opportunity to create an effective policy framework to address urban air quality whilst driving continued improvements in carbon emissions, mobility and industrial growth. The introduction of an Ultra Low Emission Zone in London from 2020, if implemented correctly, could set a precedent for other cities, not just in the UK but around the world – many of which face similar air quality challenges. This is why London has to get it right. As an industry, we applaud your vision to make London the capital for low emission vehicle technologies and mobility solutions. The proposed ULEZ will play a key role in driving the market for ultra low and zero emission capable vehicles in London that will deliver on both air quality and...

Dear fellow Key West business person, As a local businessman for 22 years, I know the importance of having City government working with business. The Mayor sets the tone for our City government, and as your Mayor I promise I will listen to your needs. Is your business better off today than it was four years ago? I suggest Key West needs new, business-style leadership in the Mayor’s office. Fiscal responsibility is the best approach in these economic times. As real estate valuations continue to force tax rates to increase, we need government to work smarter to avoid tax increases. Like you, I know the pressures of making a payroll each week. I understand the needs of affordability in housing for employees. My business experience has taught me the need for responsible borrowing...

Dear Business Guru Gal Making Youtube Videos Of Herself While Driving, Thank you for the great videos you have put on YouTube. I’ve learned a lot. Quick suggestion–you don’t need to “maximize your time” by shooting videos when you are driving. We can wait until you are back home. The road noise is too loud to hear your voice well, and your “talking” sounds more like “shouting.” When the camera fell off the dashboard and you swerved, I waited for the sound of squealing tires and crunching steel. Fortunately, nothing bad happened. However, the sound of car horns from the people you almost hit drowned out that part of your voice. Could you re-record that part from the stillness of your car parked in the driveway? Sincerely, Waiting For Sirens
