My Children,
Everyone always wants to know the secret to a marriage that lasts, a marriage that is rock solid through the ages. They ask as if it's a mystical combination that takes years of pondering and study to grasp. What's so funny is that the secret is so simple. Stay. No matter what- stay. Always stay. It's simple to define but can be VERY hard to practice every day. Now should you stay if there's abuse involved, of course not, but otherwise, stay. Even if you want to run with every fiber of your being because, don't you know, 'the grass DOES always look greener on the other side'. Stay. Stay anyway. Remember the day you took your marriage vows- they weren't just words- they were actions. Actions to stay through thick and thin, ups and downs. Stay. Love them no matter what....

Dear Erika, Kristin, Gibby, and Teddy:
I'm writing this letter to offer all of you a deep apology on behalf of my generation as well as Poppa's. As you came of age, we have shared with you the value of public service, that all of you have the capacity and responsibility to work to improve the lot of the less fortunate and play a role in advancing this nation.
But it's hard to advocate something that I don't feel compelled to do myself. As you know before your grandfather started BLACK ENTERPRISE, he spent years as an administrative assistant for the late Sen. Robert E Kennedy. He assisted the senator as he attempted to ensure that the poor were clothed and fed, no one was denied equal opportunity because of the color of their skin, and all had access to fair housing. In fact,...

Dear Dr Collins,
I am writing to you about the health catastrophe currently engulfing US children, but not only US children. Just five years ago you gave testimony to Congress as director of the Human Genome Research Institute (HERE):
‘But genes alone do not tell the whole story. Recent increases in chronic diseases like diabetes, childhood asthma, obesity or autism cannot be due to major shifts in the human gene pool as those changes take much more time to occur. They must be due to changes in the environment, including diet and physical activity, which may produce disease in genetically predisposed persons. Therefore, GEI [Genes and Environment Initiative] will also invest in innovative new technologies/sensors to measure environmental toxins, dietary intake and physical activity...

Hi (names redacted),
I made a decision very early not to support any counter-movements - my goal is to encourage discourse, not put down the efforts of an organization which has, despite its faults, served thousands of victims well. I find your programming especially problematic: if postering is a poor method of fostering political discourse, defacing posters is several steps down the credibility ladder.
I am highly dubious of your motivation in advising me that a member of a PR firm is Christian - is that intended to make me doubt his character? This bigoted view is revealing. Fight propaganda with the fair pursuit of balanced truths, not with propaganda of your own.
Your petition calls for US legislation which would, as I read it, eliminate anonymous internet use. Quoting a...

Last summer my brother overdosed in my parent's basement while me and my 4yr old son were staying over. His addiction has torn my family apart, and he has finally gotten help and it looks like he is turning his life around. I love him and want to support him, but I have so much pain, anger and resentment that I just can't let go of. I wrote this one night after waking up from a nightmare/flashback of his overdose. I'll probably never give it to him, but I thought it might help me move on to just get it out.
Thomas, It's all I think about. It consumes me. I replay scenarios over and over in my head. The blinding flashlight, the voice of the police officer, the pounding in my heart and sheer panic in my brain. The denial of mom and dad that you could possibly be the reason for the...

To anyone who understands, tries to or just can’t seem to:
Like many addicts I have come to know and love in recovery, I have a story.
It is most definitely my own, although some parts may be similar to others, it will always be my own. I’m not here to share my story about what happened in the past, but I am here to share about my life. Every day on social media, there is at least one person who is struggling. Someone is struggling because a loved one is, or someone who is struggling with ignorance because this disease has yet to hit them in a way where they would seek out ways to understand.
Like many addicts, this is not my first go around at trying to stay abstinent from a drug which took everything from me. That portion of it is also why people who are not affected by this...

Tito Sotto has been one of the main foundations of Eat Bulaga along with co-hosts Vic Sotto and Joey De Leon. Their hard work kept the show going.
But recently the heat between Eat Bulaga and the rival show ABS-CBN has been going crazy.
An open letter from a concerned citizen was posted by Tito Sotto on his Twitter Account. It was reposted by Tito Sotto on his tweet.

CENTERVILLE, Ohio -- A server at a restaurant in Ohio has some tough words for a newlywed who refused to leave a tip after enjoying a meal with her husband.
Jessica Morris just married her husband, Travis, on Oct. 9. After the honeymoon, the happy couple returned to their jobs as servers at restaurant.
On Saturday, Jessica wrote that she was serving a couple who was celebrating their honeymoon. At the end of the evening, Jessica says she dropped off the couple's check and assumed everything was fine. When she returned, the couple had disappeared and left her a little note with a $0 tip.
"He's my husband, find your own. Good luck :)," the ticket read.
After returning home, Jessica posted an open letter addressed to the woman who identified herself as "Jenny."

Dear Matt (with a copy to Seth MacFarlane), simpsons1920
There is nothing funny about rape.
According to the Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network, an American is sexually assaulted every two minutes. The damage, both physical and emotional, is incalculable. Too many have suffered and too few of us have been spared the impact of these horrific crimes among our friends, family and people we love.
So why is rape a punch line to you?
In the upcoming crossover episode of The Simpsons and Family Guy, there is a cruel, callous “joke” about the rape of a character’s sister. There may be other references to sexual assault that the public simply hasn’t been made aware of yet, but we do know about this one. In fact, it’s already been widely disseminated on YouTube.
Both The...

Dear Speaker Quinn:
As constituents and parent leaders from throughout the city, we would like to meet with you as soon as possible to discuss our budget priorities, and to urge you to do everything you can to save the six thousand teaching positions that the mayor’s budget threatens to eliminate.
Every single teaching position, whether lost through layoffs, attrition or retirement, means a significant increase in class size – which our children, many of them already suffering from the largest class sizes in over ten years – simply cannot afford. This is particularly true as enrollment is growing fast throughout much of the city and is projected to grow again next year.
We believe that there are substantial savings to be made in several areas of the DOE’s budget, especially in...
