To people in a position of power:
I was given the opportunity to read Henry V by Shakespeare in my honors composition and literature class. In case you don’t know Henry V is about how King Henry V took the throne following his father’s death and is deeply considering taking control of France. At the beginning of the book the two bishops are both being really selfish which is really weird for two high ranking members of the church but anyways they know that if they don’t persuade King Henry V to declare war then they will lose a lot of their money and land.
Having power comes with lots of responsibility, I’m only 18 years old but there have been times where I’ve been the man in charge and it can really get stressful because you have to make sure that everything stays organized and runs efficiently. Along with power you have the people that are affected by your decision, and before making a choice I review the pros and cons of both sides. I feel like every voice should be acknowledged before making a decision. Before I come to a conclusion I always think about how it will impact not only myself but others. The event I just talked about shows to selfish higher ups who want their country to go back to war just for their good.
This issue is definitely one that still exist everyone can be selfish at one point or another. In today’s world decision are made every day that affect people’s lives. This letter is for the one making the choice, if one is aware of the results of their decision they will choose wisely the next time they’re put in that situation. In Henry V the bishops get what they wanted by bribing the king to go to war but they never stopped to think about how that would affect people’s lives, all they were concerned about was money and power.
