I write to congratulate you on your staunch defense of the Senate's constitutional authority to approve, disapprove, or ignore the selection of the President, especially considering his lame-duck condition. If you succeed in preserving to the suffrage of the citizenry that seat vacated by the honorable Justice Scalia it should be considered the crowning achievement of your career.
I wish I could say you have been similarly strong in vetting and/or blocking his activist abuse of executive power in other cases. The Obama cabinet and 9th circuit are disgraceful. The continual abuse of sequestration is absurd. The mismanagement of the US military and intelligence assets has been criminal.
As far as I can observe, your actions as Senate Majority Leader have done little to improve, and much to disrupt the fortunes of tax-paying citizens. Please try to remember that the authority of a just government is derived from the consent of the governed. That the abuse of this authority undermines the very same.
In short, we the citizens are watching. We are not all so insipid as to believe sausage has been being made as usual. I hope you noticed how the senate being "in session" works these days. Do not mess this up.
