Week One of the Destruction of the Republic

The first week of the Year Zero is underway and the rebirth of NSDAP is chugging along nicely. The dismantling of all consumer protections, shutting down science which does not agree with the worldview of Der Pumpkin Fuhrer, Newspeak, prejudice, and the gagging of the opposition has now become de rigueur. It all started when the Whiner in Chief, (I care not if it is insulting because he acts like a ten year old petulant child,) was upset that the Women's March had more attendees than the Inauguration. Rather than accept this, he forbade the Park Service from tweeting and sent Sean Spicer out to lie. I feel quite bad for Mr. Spicer who, whether one agrees or not with the people he works for, was a person of integrity. Mr Spicer lambasted the press, passing on the complaint that Der Pumpkin Fuhrer made about how disheartening it is to hear the truth, (the collective illusion of reality.)

When anything that you disagree with is fake news, then it is time to say "doubleplusungood". The building of the wall, blocking Muslims (from "terrorist nations") entering the country, disallowing the EPA to fund science, the elimination of protections for consumers (environmental, drug, or food), and the destruction of the National Park System, (look at the executive orders coming down the pike,) run contrary to good governance. If we do not raise our voices and use the ballot box, all that makes this Republic unique will be lost, and the Constitution will be nothing more than parchment. This is not mere hyperbole, but can be seen over and over again with the rise of Totalitarian states throughout history. To those who say this is just rhetoric, I would remind them that deeds speak louder than words.

Societies aren't judged by how those who are most able to take advantage of their benefits are treated, but by how they treat those who are least able to take advantage of those benefits.
