To President-Elect Donald Trump on Illegal Immigration

Hello, Mr. Trump,
My name is Alex and I'm a student of the University of Virginia. I saw early on your appeal during this election and even bet my father 50$ that not only would you be the Republican nominee, but the President.
I hope that you reconsider your policy on illegal immigration. Illegal immigrants to this country include more than just Mexicans or Latin Americans; they include Eastern Europeans in New York, Mongolians in Arlington, and even my fellow Koreans in Palisades, New Jersey and Centreville, Virginia. My mom among them used to be considered one before marrying my father.
I understand that open borders allow anyone to enter our country - including the rapists, murderers and thieves of your so widely misunderstood quote on Mexican immigrants - but they also allow access to millions of hardworking would-be Americans who are escaping war-zones, impoverished economies, or even from precisely the same kind of unjust political systems run by insiders, which you ran against in your campaign for President. These immigrants come for the promise of America, and believe you me, they are just as willing to make America great again as the millions of impoverished and unemployed workers across the Rust Belt. They come more than willing to pay taxes, start businesses and obey the laws of this great country. They come illegally, not because they are natural lawbreakers, they enter illegally, because they are neglected and ignored by a broken immigration system that only allows in those who are wealthy enough to pay-to-play or win the lottery of the Diversity Visa program.
These immigrants remind me of a specific immigrant, a farmer from Kallstadt, Germany, who came to America for a better life. Despite a terrible war that soured American attitudes to Germans in 1914, this farmer was never deported. You know, as well as I do, that this farmer is none other than your grandfather, Friedrich Trump.
So please, President-Elect Trump, remember that many illegal immigrants in this country are also ignored by both Democrat and Republican insiders in Washington and mistreated by a broken system created by the Clinton Machine. Kick out the criminals who have forfeited their right to stay in the country, but keep those who share that hard-working, go-getting spirit of your grandfather. If you do, your actions will ring through American history when one day the grandchildren of these brave people will build Kim Towers, establish Gupta Holdings, or even become President-Elect Ivanov.
Sincerely,
Alexander Moree
