An Open Letter To My Friend Who Sits With Me While I Breakdown

Subject: An Open Letter To My Friend Who Sits With Me While I Breakdown
Date: 29 Dec 2015

To my friend whom I trust with knowing my life story and everything going on in my life, thank you for listening.

You know I absolutely hate crying, and you do, too, but you always encourage me to cry in hopes it will make me feel better. Because I hate crying, I won't in front of other people for fear of embarrassment and judgement. But I can always come crying to you. Whether it's a few tears, or a hysterical breakdown, you are always there to hold and hug me while I cry. I can't cry alone because of self punishment, and when I need to cry you're always there to listen to me and support me.

When I'm on the verge of a panic attack, having a panic attack, wanting to cry for stupid reasons, or needing to cry for serious reasons, you're always there for me to cry. You don't judge me. You just listen to me. Most of my life I didn't have someone I could go and cry to. I was raised not to cry and to just move on. So I have had a lot of built up emotion that has been cried out on your couch. And you were there to hold me and listen. Sometimes you don't have the words to say, and that's okay. Because I usually just need someone to listen. When you do have the words to say, you're always right. Your advice and responses to my situations is always spot on no matter how hard it is for me to hear.

You give me tough love which is what I need. Because I have trouble crying, you give me tough love that breaks me down. Not in a bad way, but in a good way. It's what I need. You're never rude, you're sincere. You care. You want the best for me. You do what's best for me, and it means so much to me.

So thank you for always being here for me. Thank you for always listening. Thank you for caring about me enough to let me pour my heart out to you. Thank you for being an honest and trustworthy person. Thank you for holding me while I cry. Thank you for being a true friend.
