Mr. Mayor Rahm Emanuel,

I’m a concerned citizen of Chicago. I never had much love for who you were or what you stood for (Not sure I ever really new what you stood for) . As a father of two boys one in his first year of college and one in middle school. I try to instill in them a love for humanity in all its forms, a love that realizes we as humans all have flaws. We must accept our fellow man at his or her word. You “Mister Mayor” have broken a trust so deeply and so profoundly that only shows a disdain for your fellow man that I believe will require the Department of Justice involvement to settle, a trust you will never restore. As a father yourself maybe you can help me understand how a man so calculating and so powerful can withhold justice or allow his staff to withhold justice for the murder of a boy not much younger than your own boy. How do I tell my boys that the man we elected as our mayor, a man so powerful that he once had the ear of two presidents possibly three. How do I tell my boys that the man we elected to protect that 17 year old boy failed him. When I think of that boy lying all alone there in the street with 16 bullets in his body all I can think is that I failed that boy. I failed that boy because I was not more of a concerned citizen. How do I tell my boys that the man elected to protect that boy did not do his job, he chose self preservation. Rahm, you were supposed to fight for that boy, a boy who couldn't fight for himself. You were supposed to fight for Laquan. You had the chance to make the right choice over a year ago but you didn't. I lay the bodies of Laquan Mcdonald, Quintonio LeGrier and Bettie Jones and countless others at your door.

If immigration was the third rail of politics I’d say you just got hit by the police corruption train. What you’ve done for your personal gain makes me ashamed to be a citizen of Chicago. You have now become a distraction therefore I’m asking for your letter of resignation. You maybe able to go back to being a political operative where you talents are clearly more suited. Also please stop by Loretta Lynch’s office when you get a chance.

Sincerely,

Concerned citizen of Chicago
