Dear Super Hero Hater,

The only action that goes on when I watch action thrillers is usually my eyes rolling to the back of my head. I hate super hero, action packed, big Hollywood movies. I think they are overdone and obnoxiously predictable. Wow, the world is being taken over by a monster dinosaur, how realistic! I totally relate to the anxiety of trying to save a city from a super villain.

But listen up. Mad Max is not your typical super hero/action movie. It exceeds any expectation a super hero fanatic would have. And even I, someone who loather the thought of going to another world ending movie can confidently and enthusiastically attest to the epic glory that is Mad Max: Fury Road. Don't worry, though, I am not going to give away any spoilers -- just my reaction.

First, when I heard it was a remake of an old Mel Gibson movie I thought, “Great my dad will love this, and I definitely won't." However, no special effects from back in the day could have my jaw on the floor the entire time.

There is tight dialogue; every word said in this movie had significance. I was in awe at how little was said, but how much was conveyed. The historical and religious symbolism throughout the movie added to the themes. It is so much.

This movie is heart wrenching. Some of the scenes left me gripping my heart because of the emotional overtake this movie had on me. Wow, I'm dramatic. Anyway, Max himself also has the most perfectly shaped lips ever blessed onto a man, so some sweet eye candy.

It is pretty gruesome and does have a lot of harsh imagery. However, if I can handle the scenes, than anyone can. The relationship between Max and Imperator Furiosa is kind of quirky, but you kind of love them.

For the first time ever, I found myself rooting for the main character. It was kind of embarrassing, but I don't regret it.

It also gives your group a great Halloween costume idea that I call Imperator Furiosa .

Anyways, before you dismiss Mad Max you must give it a chance and go see it for yourself. It will grab your attention on some level, and leave you wanting to watch it again. It was truly one of the best movies I have ever seen.

Sincerely,

Super Hero Hater
