An open letter to all Key West Business people

Dear fellow Key West business person,

As a local businessman for 22 years, I know the importance of having City government working with business. The Mayor sets the tone for our City government, and as your Mayor I promise I will listen to your needs.

Is your business better off today than it was four years ago? I suggest Key West needs new, business-style leadership in the Mayor’s office.

Fiscal responsibility is the best approach in these economic times. As real estate valuations continue to force tax rates to increase, we need government to work smarter to avoid tax increases.

Like you, I know the pressures of making a payroll each week. I understand the needs of affordability in housing for employees. My business experience has taught me the need for responsible borrowing and repayment of loans.

Tourism is the lifeblood of our local economy, and I strongly support the work of the TDC, our local DAC and the Umbrella advisory committees. I respect the successful leadership of Harold Wheeler.

As a long-term member of The Chamber of Commerce, I have served on the Economic Development Committee. I’m also an active member of the Business Guild and the Key West Association of Realtors.

To achieve the goals of a business-friendly Key West, I need your vote and support. Please consider a generous contribution of my campaign. Simply call me and I’ll pick up your check. My cell number is 305.587.0587. Thanks!

Sincerely,

Craig Cates
