Dear Senator Tillis,
As a citizen of Wake Forest, North Carolina and a constituent of yours, I write this letter to urge you to take action against the federal funding of Planned Parenthood by opposing any spending bill or funding measure that allocates a single dollar of federal money to the organization of Planned Parenthood.
Throughout the history of the world, the fundamental building block of every orderly and safe society has been a government that understands and promotes the value of human life. This right to life is not a freedom that was created by government, but is a right that has been given to us by our Creator. However, there is little respect for this right in our nation today. Hundreds of thousands of innocent babies are brutally murdered each year through abortion procedures. Not only has no action been taken to defend these innocent babies, but the federal government has encouraged their destruction through its funding of Planned Parenthood.
Our government’s rejection of these children’s right to life is an issue that must be addressed. The founders of our nation understood the importance of this right when they penned the Declaration of Independence, stating: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” The value of life was at the center of the founding of this nation. Have we abandoned everything that our fathers fought and died for?
We must end this government supported slaughter of innocent life. I am grateful for your recent support of S. 1881, a bill that would have stripped Planned Parenthood of all federal funding. However, as you know, that bill failed to pass. Now, Congress has a second opportunity to strip Planned Parenthood of its funding through the federal budget. I ask you to vote “no” on any spending budget that provides funding for Planned Parenthood.
You may question, “Is this a hill worth dying on?” My response would be, “If the freedom of life itself is not a hill worth dying on, then what hill is?” Our founding fathers risked much more than a government shutdown when they penned the Declaration of Independence. They were putting their very lives on the line in order to defend their God-given liberties.
Senator Tillis, Let me remind you that you took an oath of office to support and defend the Constitution. Permit me to quote a section of that document found in the Fifth Amendment: “No person shall be… deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law.” If you support a budget that authorizes federal funds to be spent on abortions, you will be in blatant violation of this amendment and your oath of office.
If you fail to take action now, how will you feel when you stand before God on Judgment Day, knowing that you are guilty of the lives of innocent children, and that your vote paid for their execution? Are you ready to explain?
I sincerely urge you to stand for what is right by taking this opportunity to stop all federal funding of Planned Parenthood.
