To my beautiful Momma,

I look forward with anticipation to Mother’s Day each and every year. Perhaps it’s because every Mother’s Day marks yet another year that God saw fit to bless me with you.

As I sat down to write this letter I was filled with all kinds of thoughts, but yet I still felt that I had nothing to say.

Your joy, kindness, integrity, and faithfulness (among other things) leave me speechless. I truly feel that there are no words to describe the gratitude that I feel for you on this day.

I want to thank you for the sacrificial love that you show daily to accommodate my desires and wants not to even mention my needs. I want to thank you for the hours that you spend waiting on me whether it’s while I am aimlessly wandering around Kate Spade or whether it’s waiting around for me at the dentist office. Thank you for the encouragement that you always seek to give in the midst my darkest moments and for the shouts of joy that you always offer when I accomplish something important to me. Thank you for defining for me the true meaning of friendship and family.

Throughout our lives while not everything has gone according to plan and while not everyday has been a happy one, you always manage to make our house a home and for that I am eternally grateful. In each one of our moves you have never ceased to work tirelessly until each one of us has felt at home where God has called us.

As a spectator in our home, I daily witness the love and respect that you have for Dad. Your Biblical understanding and actions regarding marriage have provided me with a picture that I hope to someday strive towards as a wife.

While the world says that raising girls is hard, you say that raising girls is one of the most fun blessings that one could experience. While some Moms sit around and visit with their friends about their kid’s personal faults and struggles, you have always kept our issues between the walls of our home. I have always known that I could come to you with any struggle and that it would remain between us.

I can say without a doubt that you are my best friend. I love our inside jokes and our silly impersonations that no one else understands. I love that we could spend hours (and hundreds of dollars) in the mall together. I love that I can watch The Voice with you every week and discuss the logistics of Team Blake. Thank you for putting up with each of my crazy obsessions like Kate Spade and cough cough– Jordan Spieth. I am also indebted to you for giving me a love for Texas football.

Oh and that brings up another important subject–

Thank you for raising me up to be a proud Texan. Thank you for flying the flag of the motherland outside our home and for making me Texas shaped waffles in the morning. Thank you for instilling in me the values that we hold close as Texans.

Aside from all the things mentioned in this letter; while Texas, friendship, and marriage are all important things. First and foremost thank you for always pointing me to the Cross. Thank you for living out Jesus and for always quoting scripture even when I complain about it. Thank you for living a life by example and for encouraging me to do the same. Your love for Jesus is contagious to every person around you.

I don’t know what the future holds as I get ready to head off to college. I don’t know what the next ten years of our lives will look like. I don’t even know what will happen tomorrow.

All I know is that I will always strive to be half the mom that you are to Beka and me.

I am always your baby girl no matter how old I am and I try every day to take no moment with you for granted.

I love you Mommy and I am so glad that God blessed me with you!

Trying to count it all joy,

Abi
