Democracy and Corruption

I am neither a Republican, Democrat, Conservative, or Liberal but a Freethinker. I was raised to listen to all, filter the noise, and find the consensus which ultimately, should be a society that benefits all.
The country is based on the Second Treatise On Government by John Locke and the Social Contract by Rousseau. To live in a society individuals have to surrender the ability to so as we please when we want. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few or the needs of the one is the guiding principle. This is not some nonsense spouted in Star Trek but Utilitarianism a philosophy by John Stuart Mill. We may all argue about the means to the end but not about the end. The Founders believed government exists only by the consent of the governed and that it is important that government must not be corrupt. There are specific sections of the Constitution which govern the conduct of the President regarding gifts and remunerations. Lawyers may parse and quibble about the meaning of the words but the Governed realize it means the President, Congress, and Government officials must be beyond reproach.
For Messrs. Trump, Priebus, and Chaffetz (with The Chorus) this does not seem to be the case. Rather than force Mr. Trump and his presumptive cabinet to divest holdings into blind trusts they attack the Ethics Office. This is not the way to establish faith in Government but to ultimately destroy it.

I am saddened and disgusted bu the actions of these people and act not as noble statesmen but greedy, venal, self-interested individuals. It is the duty of The Governed from which the power of the Government derives to flood the Congress with letters, EMAILS, phone calls, and protests till the rules are followed.
