If you are looking for work as an ESL or TEFL teacher in China, do not gamble on getting scammed by a black unlicensed agent or shady recruiters who only tell you what you want to know. Last year over 2,000 foreign expat teachers in China were arrested, jailed, and deported as convicted felons for working without a Z visa or for using a fake diploma.

Be safe not sorry by using only white-listed ESL employers that are properly licensed and registered with SAFEA and have a SAIC business license. They are the only ones who can legally hire foreign employees and sponsor a Z visa (work visa). You can find these employers listed here: http://www.chinaforeignteachersunion.com/2017/01/cftu-publishes-2017-whi...

Also be aware there are hundreds of fake online China job ads posted online every week at Beijinger, Echinacities, Craigslist, Gumtree, Sinocities, etc. DO NOT RESPOND TO THESE ADS until you read these three links first or you may be set up for a very costly scam:

You may also want to know your rights as a foreign employee in China and what to watch out for in your contract. You can find this information along with 2017 teacher requirements in our archives at http://www.chinaforeignteachersunion.com.

You also need to know that the AVERAGE pay for China foreign teachers is $3,000 per month or 18,000 yuan. If you have a degree in Education, or have already taught for more than three years, you should not consider any position that offers you less than 20,000 yuan per month. Good Luck in your job search and if you need help, our need to see our blacklisted schools and agents that is updated every 90 days, just visit us here at http://www.chinaforeignteachersunion.org
