No matter who you are, or how old you are there are always two things that a majority of people try to run from; their past and their mistakes. We think that these things define who we are and that this is the way that everyone will always view us, but that is not who you are, don’t let your past perceive you.

The past does not define who we are and neither do our mistakes. We allow them to because we think that is the way it has to be. We let people see us for our past and our mistakes when they should be seeing who we really are at this moment. Let's face it, our past and mistakes are all trials for who we are becoming. You do things without thinking, or without wondering what the cost of what you do is. We think that in that moment the things we are doing is okay, that they are right and will make us happy. As time goes on you realize that the decisions you made and the path that it led you isn’t who you want to be and you regret what you have done. That’s okay, you are allowed to feel that way, this is what helps you learn and grow into the person you want to become.

Each person in this world has their share amount of mistakes and things they regret doing, judging a person based on the things they have done is not fair on that person what so ever. How would you feel if someone was constantly bashing you for the mistakes you have made in the past? Not many people have made the same mistakes twice but sometimes people do and that’s okay, they are your mistakes to make and you can screw up a million times before learning who you want to be become. No matter how crazy the mistakes we make may seem, they never truly define us; but they do shape us. They shape us into who we are, and who we are becoming, they shape us into the person we are meant to become.

If you did not mess up or make mistakes you would not be the person you are today, you wouldn’t be you. Mistakes are what builds character, what gives a person a sense of individuality. We begin growing into who we want to be, the person we always dreamed of becoming. Sure sometimes we put ourselves in some bad decisions or hang around the wrong people, but later down the road, we look back and realize it was all worth it for where we are now.

Do not be ashamed of your past or the mistakes that you have made, it does not matter how other people view you or what they think of you all that matters is how you view yourself, what you think of who you are. The past has nothing to do with you, 5 seconds ago has nothing to do with you all that matters is the present and the future, nothing else.

You may have known a person in your past, and they may have done things you didn’t like or approve of but you can’t continue to judge someone for that or drag them down for that, because they may be someone completely different now, and you wouldn’t know because you are too busy looking at their past mistakes. What people do and who people actually are, are two completely different things, they are so different everybody and everything is constantly changing.

We are like the seasons, just because someone used to act like something or did things in the past doesn’t mean that they couldn’t have done a complete 180 and change everything about themselves. Don’t expect someone to stay the same, even with their past mistakes they could be brand new.

Do not ever let people degrade you based on the past mistakes you have made, instead show them wrong, show them you are different and that they can’t keep judging you for that. You are the one that decides whether these two things will define you or whether they will shape you into who you are or who you are becoming.
