Dear Prime Minister Trudeau, I just want to say that I admire the positions you have taken so far in dealing with Daesh (ISIS). It is important to aid those who need it. We need to show more support, not less, and I need not explain why as you clearly understand this. These attacks across the world (Beirut, Paris, and Baghdad) were meant to scare us. They certainly succeeded in doing so; violence and innocent deaths are frightening to all of us. But more than the actual bombings, what has truly terrified me is the reaction from many who are quick to place the blame for these horrific events on Muslims, and more specifically, refugees. The way I see it, these people are just playing right into Daesh’s hand. Daesh did not, in my opinion, orchestrate these attacks just for the sake of...

After the first serious debate on the Democratic Presidential side, 51% said Hillary won; 28% said Bernie did; 6% said O’Malley did. Hillary won by a substantial margin, nearly two-to-one. Bernie has gotten as far as he is going to go by merely preaching to the choir; he’s going to need to change his strategy now, to win the majority-support of America’s Democratic voters. Energizing the base will no longer suffice, for the rest of this campaign. Here is how he can do that — First: he must wake up to the reality that his base is far smaller than Hillary’s; and, so, he needs immediately to change his issues-focus. As this shows, the American people just don’t make the connection between “The income gap between the wealthiest Americans and the rest of the country” and “Middle and...

The other day, I found the following letter on a site somewhere, and decided to post it here, with the hopes that people, young and old, will read it and take it for what it is. Written in 2012, on the eve of the 40th anniversary of President Marcos’ declaration of Martial Law, it presents solid truth regarding so many things about the Philippines. Its people. And the sad state of affairs that have befallen their country these past 3+ decades. The hardest part though — for many Filipino’s is – having the ability to actually turn off that part in their brain that reminds them of who authored these profound words, simply because of who his father was. We hope that as you read this letter, as brothers and sisters of this nation, listen to what’s being said. It’s this time of the year...

Donald Trump Trump Campaign www.donaldtrump.com D. Coman Clayton, N.C. Re: Ben Carson political attack in Iowa 11/13/2015 OPEN LETTER TO DONALD TRUMP Dear Mr. Trump, I would like to inform you that you may have grossly insulted the evangelical community. You have professed your belief that testimony by Ben Carson of God’s intervention and healing in his life is “crap”. Inadvertently, by questioning the event in its entirety, you have clearly made a stand against God’s ability to change Ben Carson’s life and that anyone who believes that God has the power to heal or change in this instance is stupid and believes a bunch of crap. In your Iowa rally, you questioned Carson’s story of nearly stabbing a friend by stating, “How stupid are the people of Iowa? How stupid are...

Mr. Carson, I have a bone to pick with you. I was initially very angry when I heard your view on abortion in cases of rape and incest. Anger never resolves anything so I am going to tell you why I believe you need to rethink this. I understand why people are so passionate about this topic. Just because someone is pro-choice, does not make them pro-abortion. I am not writing to debate abortion in general. There are too many what ifs. I'm specifically writing about rape and incest. Your views scare me, and this is why..... I was molested by my step father. He married my mother when I was four and adopted me when I was five. I grew up calling him dad. He molested me and he watched me in the shower. I grew up insecure, afraid and confused. I thought every father behaved the same way. I...

I don’t understand. I don’t understand the hate. I know I can’t understand the mind of others, especially those who would do something like this. I can’t. How can anyone expect to know the inner workings of someone else’s mind? I was born and raised in Canada, in a nice home, free from hunger, persecution, and other tragedies that would scar my psyche. I’ve experienced loss. I lost my mother when I was fourteen to ALS. Seven years later I lost my father two days after my twenty-first birthday to lung cancer. I had a birthday cake with no candles because my father was in an oxygen enriched hospital room. I held my father’s hand and told him it was okay to die; he’d suffered enough and we’d be strong without him. That was the most painful, and hardest thing I’ve ever done...

Dear Dr. Carson, You were an extremely skilled pediatric neurosurgeon and you’ve saved many lives. In fact, you saved someone who’s very important to me – someone in my immediate family. I’m forever grateful for your gifted hands. No words can fully describe my gratitude, and I will never, ever forget what you did. Additionally, not only did you save one of my family members, you took the time to explain what you did right after the operation by drawing your surgical technique on a napkin to illustrate how you repaired what was wrong in said family member’s brain. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Now you want to be the president of the United States of America. No. Operating on brains and being the leader of the free world requires two wildly different skill sets, and it...

I know how it feels to have everything taken away by a government/country I would give my life for to protect. This same Government that is supposed to protect our rights is really tearing them apart. The Government has systematically deleted everything I've ever done. The college degrees, the military awards/achievements, deployments and work locations, have all been deleted and/or changed from data bases by the hackers used by the government. The US Government uses hackers to delete things and people that either won’t cooperate or won’t let things go, which in my case, is what they did. I know that the Government uses these people because I worked on Protective Service details guarding them in the early 90’s, while in the Army. The reason, because I wouldn't stop investigating/...

On October 26, a group of distinguished Indian historians issued a statement of concern about the damage being done in the current political climate to the traditions of tolerance, and freedom of speech, belief and practices, for which India was long applauded. We - historians and social scientists engaged in researching and teaching about the richness of Indian history and society in different locations overseas - write to express our solidarity with their statement. We share the deep concern over recent happenings in India, which are affecting freedom of artistic expression and historical and social science inquiry, and serving to produce a dangerously pervasive atmosphere of narrowness, intolerance and bigotry. Currently reigning political attitudes and actions have seriously harmed...
