Dear Press Office, I am a well-known Russia blogger; my work appears on Pajamas Media, Instablogs, Publius Pundit and La Russophobe, and has been noted in by the Associated Press, the Washington Post and The Moscow Times, among many others. I would like to interview a Russia Today editor of your choosing and publish the transcript of the interview, which I would conduct by e-mail, on one or more of my blogs. I would appreciate it if you could put me in e-mail contact with an editor who can tell me about Russia Today’s news coverage, editorial positions, mission and market performance. Thank you for your assistance. Kim Zigfeld

Dear Ms. Johansson and Ms. Byanyima, We are writing to you about the involvement of Ms. Johansson as the Global Ambassador for Oxfam at the same time as she is the Brand Ambassador for Sodastream. Sodastream, as we will show, is an Israeli company that is based on an illegal settlement, illegal according to Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention (1949). Not only are we concerned with Ms. Johansson’s involvement with this firm, but we are equally troubled by how her work erodes Oxfam’s credibility as a social justice organization. Sodastream at Ma’aleh Adumim. Sodastream’s factory is located in the Israeli settlement of Ma’aleh Adumim, in the industrial zone of Mishor Edomin. The settlements are built on land that the Israeli armed forces seized in 1967, and hold as...

Dear Dr Cable, We are writing to express our deep concern about reports that the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills is considering cuts to the ring-fenced science funding because of budget pressures arising from changes in the higher education policy in England. In light of the government’s commitment in the 2010 Spending Review to ring-fence the science budget up to 2015, a protection extended to 2016 in this year’s interim budget statement, we will consider any attempt to drop this commitment as a broken promise and will oppose it vigorously. This includes any strategy that places further items within the ring fence without increasing the overall budget to compensate. The possibility of cuts will come as a major disappointment to researchers across the country. They...

Dear New England Weather, HDR TestI know it’s a big job being the weather. You’re the most complicated system in the world and scientists need supercomputers to even attempt to predict your patterns. So I really appreciate that you do your best for us: snow in the winter, rain in the spring, sun in the summer, rain in the fall — we admire this consistency. But, Weather, as you may have noticed, it is now June 25. I hate to sound like a whiner, but I think I speak for a lot of people when I say that we’re ready for some summery weather now. The overcast, rainy, windy days are all very nice, and I’m sure we appreciate not sweating to death in 95°F humid days, but we’re ready for some sun. The plants are very green thanks to the incessant rain, and I think they’d probably like some sun...

Dear Channel 4, I am writing to you with the hope that you will stop ruining my life. While your obsession with my ethnicity is flattering, it has become somewhat apparent to me that you might have gotten the wrong end of the stick. This is sort of awkward for me, because I don’t want to be the one to break it to you, but your documentary, ‘Big Fat Gypsy Weddings‘, is unfortunately a work of fiction. There is no need to be embarrassed, it can happen to the best of us, and thus I hope my letter will help you establish the facts, after all I’m sure you are passionate about fighting discrimination against ethnic minorities. Don’t be modest now, we know you are…right? It surprised me to discover that 99% of Britain’s Gypsy and Traveller population are Irish. Correct me if I’m wrong, as...

Dear Sweden, For decades your country has been respected worldwide as a place of tolerance, openness, fairness and equality, and proud independence. But in the last two years, this has changed and changed a great deal. Human Rights activists and organisations are lining up to criticise Sweden. Your legal systems, the way that alleged victims are given a state-appointed målsägarbiträde, private hearings for sexual cases, the way that victims and the accused are interviewed and many other things are being said to be against liberal values, against freedom, and show that Sweden is nothing more than a puppet of the USA. Only recently, Amnesty International joined in, demanding that Sweden give assurances that cannot be given. Sweden has even been compared to Saudi Arabia for human...

Dear Mr Price, I write on behalf of The Full Toss, a blog for followers of English cricket and supporters of the England national sides (of whom your brand is official sponsor). We would like to draw your attention to the parlous state of relations between the England and Wales Cricket Board and the English cricketing public. Among supporters, there is a widespread feeling of disillusionment, disenfranchisement, frustration, and anger. A great many feel that for some years – but particularly since February 2014 – the board has treated us with a remarkably arrogant degree of contempt and disdain. We assert that the ECB, and specifically chairman Giles Clarke, regard the public merely as an indentured cash-cow, whose sole role is obediently to buy tickets and TV subscriptions...

Dear England, I clearly remember being in my early teens and staunchly professing that I would never consider living abroad because I loved the Motherland too much. A prophecy from a renowned manghuhula based in an obscure street in Katipunan plus a lifetime of what I actually did for love later, I find myself wondering if my younger self would ever get anything right. You, England, it appeared, were in the cards. What was apparent from the beginning was that it was not love at first sight. It was raining when I arrived – your kind of wet and dreary that sits perfectly with Sherlock Holmes but entirely too sullen and dispiriting for real life. Where I used to take delight in the pink noise of the rain in Manila, your version inevitably evoked a sense of wretchedness and foreboding...

Dear Prime Minister, We write as charities in membership of the Specialised Healthcare Alliance, a broad coalition campaigning on behalf of patients with rare and complex conditions requiring specialist NHS care. The NHS budget for these services is over £14 billion. They include services for the most vulnerable patients with the rarest conditions, as well as those for more commonly known conditions, including brain and spinal injury, cancer, Cystic Fibrosis, HIV and Multiple Sclerosis. Each of the main political parties has supported national commissioning of these services since the last General Election. There are now concerns that otherwise desirable collaboration with local commissioners could in future jeopardise consistent national standards of care across the country...

Dear Dr. Harding and Mr. Finegan, We are writing to express our opposition to NHS England’s plans to close down Finch Rd Surgery imminently. From our reach and following within the area, we firmly conclude patients and local community do not want to see this health provision ended. There is clear dissatisfaction of Virgin healthcare’s failures on patient experience and fulfilling promises it made when it took on the contract for the Surgery, but at our open meeting in the community last month NHS England representatives failed to explain inaction on their part over the past 2 years to monitor and enforce the contract. We are very disappointed any consultation about the future of the practice was left to the last minute weeks before contract was due to end. Heart of Birmingham...
