THE TRANSGENDER COMMUNITY

The crucible. It as an amazing play, in the basics, about one group against another. Just like this issue. The issue in this play, and the issue here, comes from the same seed. I chose this issue, because it was an issue that the public media should talk about. I know a few transgenders, and I know a few people who have thought about it. I don’t think it is wrong, but I think we should be able to hold our own opinions about it. I want to reach out to anyone who pays attention to the public media.

The transgender community has been the circle of attention for the last decade or two. No one has a good argument for either side. I don’t believe anyone reading this does either. “they can be who they want.” Yes they can, but why does that mean I have to see it? If they can do and say what they want, does that mean I can openly trash their reputation without any fear like they should be able to do?

Our president, Donald Trump himself, disproves of transgenders in the full capacity as well. He has repeatedly stated, Transgender individuals to serve in any capacity in the U.S. Military.” The rationale? The military “cannot be burdened with the tremendous medical costs and disruption that transgender in the military would entail.” This is a VERY good point. The medical costs of what trangenders need, and the confusion from other soldiers, is just too much to ignore. BUT, at the same time, we cannot ignore that no matter what, that group of people are human beings and Americans to. It all depends on how you look at it

There have been casings of the transgender community speaking out in a outcry of support for their people. One trangender woman has stated “current estimates suggest that we make up 0.2 – 0.3% of the population” while not a staggering amount, that number has been building up as the years have progressed. Who are we to ignore almost half of a percent of the population. Yes, it might be confusing, but with time, we should be able to accept people as they are. This is almost an exact replica of the racism we faced decades ago. New people, same crimes.

The trangender community has pros and cons for either side. It is up to you to decide how you feel about it. Hate them? Love them? Either way, you have to live with them. They are here, and won’t be going away anytime soon. This is not a ethical problem, this is a social issue. If you go out and spill your beliefs, your bound to find someone who agrees with you. As the numbers add on, so will the support or backlash from the community. Its not our fault they are who they are, so why should we not be able to say what we want, just like any other topic?
