Your Excellency,‎

We wish to extend to you our best wishes and heartfelt congratulations on your historic ‎victory in the recent elections. As the second-youngest Prime Minister in Canadian history, ‎and your past experience and passion in youth advocacy and human rights, we share a strong ‎vision for democracy and human rights in Iran. Your recent remarks made while visiting ‎members of the Iranian community in Ottawa was especially important to us, as you so rightly ‎stated that you clearly differentiate between the aspirations of the Iranian people and the ‎policies of the theocratic regime.‎

The plight of the Iranian people in their struggle for a just and an equitable society based on ‎universal suffrage and human rights, and their right to be able to choose their own destiny ‎and form of government through free elections, should be a priority that all free and ‎democratic nations must support so that at last Iran and the region can once again enjoy ‎stability, peace and progress. ‎

We hope that under your leadership Canada will extend its support for the Iranian people's ‎aspiration to join the community of nations as a free, pluralistic and democratic country.‎

Yours sincerely, ‎

Reza Pahlavi
President of the Iran National Council for Free Elections
