To whom it may concern,

I am a conservative and just received an email from the your group, passed through The Washington Times requesting donations.

I was interested and clicked the link in the email but was taken aback by what I saw.

By the way here is the link: https://www.joinheritage.org/stand-with-heritage/?utm_source=washingtont...

At the very top there is a "bar" that fills up towards a $1,000,000 "goal" and the bar currently shows $526,019. Now this bar does not explicitly indicate that it is representative of donations received toward the $1,000,000 goal described in the following paragraphs, but only a liar would argue that this is not the desired implication for the reader.

The problem is the bar is a lie. Here is the code that generates the bar.

script type="text/javascript"
$(document).ready(function() {
$(".filled_thermometer").animate({width:"53%"}, 2000);
$(".bubble").animate({left: "53%"}, 2000);
$(".current_amount").countTo({
from: 0,
to: 526019.35,
speed: 2000,
refreshInterval: 5
});

It's a simple javascript to "animate" the "thermometer" to fill up from 0 to 526019.35 at increments of 2000.

If you want to see this for yourself, after clicking the link above, right-click the page aand choose "view source" from the menu. Scroll down a little bit to find it, or just "find" (ctrl + f) and search for 526019.

So what is my point? This is trickery and deceit. The same kind of corruption already found in Washington. We're already lied to by everybody else, why are we being lied to by you too? If you are truly a conservative group of moral quality, you will strip out all deceit from your campaign, you will issue a general apology, and you will move forward with honesty and dignity.

As it is, while I'm sure my individual donation will not be missed, I will not donate to more of the same in Washington.
