I want to bring this issue under your kind notice that the movie “Maalik” has been banned all over Pakistan. It is a new topic in Pakistan’s industry as the story was about the leaders and politicians of Pakistan.
Three weeks after Ashir Azeem’s directed movie ‘Maalik’ premiered at the theatres all across Pakistan, the Federal Information Ministry and Sindh government has banned the film. No such reason has been specified in the notifications. The film has been accused by some quarters because the topic is promoting ethnic racism and showing Pakistani politicians in bad light. It has been banned because it shows Pakistan’s former chief minister as a man of corruption.
My issue is that why this movie has been banned when no such other authentic reason is raised due to which it should be stopped showing to the people. This movie should be shown to the people so that they can get awareness and differentiate regarding society discrimination. It is a story of love, loyalty, honor, family value, idealism, courage and dignity against all odds
If these types of films are banned, our cinema industry will surely collapse. This would also result in unemployment, which is a serious issue of Pakistan. Furthermore, it would reduce entertainment opportunities available to Pakistanis.
This act can be a discouragement for the director, producers and writers who want to make innovative film and stories.
